Pattaya Hotels, Guesthouses and Resorts
When it comes to accommodation, it can be hit and miss in Pattaya: for the same money you can get a worn-out room with bug-infected mattresses in a once oh-so-popular hotel or a stylish new bungalow.
As a general rule, more budget accommodation is found in Jomtien while Pratamnak and Nakluea, though also featuring some decent guesthouses, cater for more discerning public. Central part is almost exclusively occupied by sex tourists and party animals and often is quite noisy. Elegant breezy hotels, some with their own beaches, congregate in the southern environs of the city and if Pattaya per se does not interest you too much, this is a good choice as some of the {most atmospheric restaurants in Pattaya](/en/thailand/pattaya/food) are also located along the coast in Na Jomtien.
Budget
Regardless the fact that backpackers are not the target group of tourists visiting Pattaya, there are several decent hostels in the city, the best choice here probably being Sleep Cafe Hostel close to the Northern bus station in Pattaya North Road. It receives rave reviews from travellers and offers bunk beds in well-kept dorms (both mixed and ladies only). It is probably a great choice if you have to make a quick stop for a night and then to hop onto a bus to your next destination, otherwise the location is not very convenient. Beds are from THB370.
For a bit more (from THB450) you can get a private room with ensuite bathroom in rather characterless guesthouses in Jomtien between Soi Wat Boon and Chayapruek (just walk along the sea and peep into sois heading from the sea).
Ambassador City Jomtien, the grand dame of package tourism, has several buildings some of which have rooms priced from THB1000 (Inn Wing & Garden Wing). It is far from the hustle and bustle of the city, but the beach there is nice and you have full access to all hotel facilities, including swimming pools and kids playground. Sunsets are spectacular from the main building.
Though falling almost in the mid-range category, our definite pick here is BB House in Dong Tan Beach. For THB1200 you get your half of a wooden chalet with floor-to-ceiling glass wall. There are only 12 houses around a swimming pool shadowed by flowering frangipani trees, and the beach is 30 m away! The owners also run a great restaurant which is a perfect spot for breakfast (from THB160) and which sees some live music on a couple of evenings during the week.
Mid-range
Mid-range category is represented mostly by mid-sized boutique hotels many of which are found in Pratamnak hill. Cabbage & Condoms are more of a top end with their THB3500+ rates, but special packages and promotions often found online put it in the mid-range category. There is a namesake – and very good! – restaurant there and the whole territory of the hotel is covered with ‘jungle’.
Also in Pratamnak, check Cosy Beach View Hotel which has several buildings – ask for a room in the newer one. They normally come at THB2,500. The hotel has a convenient access to one of few swimmable beaches within Pattaya.
There is a whole bunch of rather big hotels built around 2000s in Jomtien, including Welcome Jomtien, Jomtien Garden Hotel & Resort, Sea Breeze Hotel and the like all offering very similar rooms at very similar rates between THB1500-THB2000. The latter is probably the best choice of the bunch. Jomtien beach is separated from them by the road and there is a lot of affordable restaurants around.
If you need to be more central, check Camelot (THB1500) which has a very convenient location close to Walking Street but not exactly in the epicentre of its chaos.
In the north, Bella Villa Metro, Best Villa, Loma Resort or Pattaya Garden are the cheapest resort-like options in the district (THB2000).
Botany Beach in Na Jomtien is the best kept secret for many. It has nothing to envy to more expensive neighbours – Pinnacle Grand Jomtien ot Dor Shada Resort, but is slightly cheaper (from THB3000). It also has its own beach and a nice garden.
Top end
Hilton overlooking Pattaya Bay is the most obvious choice in the top end category. The hotel occupies the upper floors of the building housing the largest shopping mall in the city – Central Festival Pattaya Beach – plus has some of the best dining options with a view, so shopping and dining are never too far from you.
Also in the central part of the city, check Hotel Barraquda Pattaya (THB4500) which is famous for their live jazz sessions in the rooftop bar (though it is only the 6th floor, so do not expect much from the view).
In the north, rooms in Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort (THB6,000) feature unobstructed sea view. There is a terrific swimming pool there and even a slow river.
Dusit Thani Pattaya and Cape Dara Resort are both among the best Pattaya offerings and cost between THB5000 and THB6000. They do treat their guests as royals! The neighbourhood is very respectable, too, and is occupied by other expensive hotels.
A couple of resorts in Jomtien give you an opportunity to enhance your Thai experience by staying in authentic Thai villas. These are Sugar Hut and Rabbit Resort, both about THB5000. If you like this style, Avalon Beach Resort in Dong Tan Beach also has bungalows alongside with the main, more usual buildings (THB4000).
We just could not but mention Royal Cliff Hotels Group which dominates a promontory in Pratamnak Hill. Some of the rooms have been renovated recently and look quite fresh. Infinity and jacuzzi pools, gyms, tennis courts, cafes and several great restaurants – you do not really go outside to splurge! From THB4500.
