Bangkok to Pattaya Destination Reviews

Normal service. Took a bit more than 3 hours due to traffic. No dedicated spaces for backpacks but we were lucky to have the last row which has enough space at the feet. We checked-in 2h before planned departure time (transfer was early), and waited only 1h for the next minivan.
Van Regional 14pax, Saharat Pattaya (Saharat Pattaya), Dec 2, 2023
Bus left an hour late. Was the most bumpy ride of my life awful. Felt like the bus was going to fall apart
Van Regional 14pax, Saharat Pattaya (Saharat Pattaya), Dec 1, 2023
Only 2 bags allowed. Had to pay for extra but we'll worth the value for a ride from Bangkok to Pattaya.
Van Regional 14pax, Saharat Pattaya (Saharat Pattaya), Nov 29, 2023
The bud didn’t run on time. We ended up like two hours too late. The bus also didn’t leave us at Bali Hai Pier. The employe at desk wasn’t the nicest to deal with.
Van Regional 14pax, Tawanok Tour (ตะวันออกทัวร์), Nov 27, 2023
I ended up having to pay for Covid insurance. I do not remember clicking that option so must’ve been one of those ones that automatically added.
Van Regional 14pax, Tawanok Tour (ตะวันออกทัวร์), Nov 17, 2023
We were prepared for the van to be late leaving (and it was, by over an hour). Staff at the bus station were mostly rude, and there was zero communication. The ride is definitely not the 2 hours advertised - 3 minimum, and ours was closer to 3.5, with a number of drop off. No room for luggage, and while the van did have AC, it seemed like the driver turned it off (or it was overwhelmed by the number of sweaty bodies). All in all, a bit of a slog.
Van Regional 14pax, Saharat Pattaya (Saharat Pattaya), Nov 11, 2023
On time and very fast.
Bus Express, Roong Reuang Coach (รถรุ่งเรือง), Nov 10, 2023
Very good.
Bus Express, Roong Reuang Coach (รถรุ่งเรือง), Nov 8, 2023
The van stopped no less than 13 times to pick up passengers and drop off passengers and packages. It was 1 1/2 hour late arriving in Pattaya. Next time we will take the bus that doesn't make all of the stops.
Van Regional 14pax, Tawanok Tour (ตะวันออกทัวร์), Nov 7, 2023
The hostess was outstanding and extremely talented. I enjoyed my experience and travel. Great experience and great attention to details by host.

What mode of transportation is the best one for my route?

They often include water, snacks or a light lunch into your ticket price and make bathroom stops en-route.

Some travellers consider taxi to be the most convenient form of overland transport thanks to flexible departure times, a possibility to choose the size of the car you need, and a hassle-free door-to-door service.

Train is a often a great choice for long-haul travel especially if you opt for a night sleeper train with berths which will allow you to sleep all your journey through. To make the most of your train journey, choose the class of your ticket wisely.

Note that there are air-conditioned and fan-only carriages; private compartments for 2 or 4; hard and soft seats.
Though the upper class you get the smoother is your journey, often second class air-conditioned or fan-only sleepers are a good money saving alternative.

Vans are a great alternative - or, in many cases - your only option - if you need to travel overland within one and the same province or neighbouring provinces or states. Vans ply the roads between Bangkok and Pattaya, too.

Things to remember: When travelling by van with huge luggage buying a separate seat for your suitcase or backpack is a good idea. Do not expect there is a roomy luggage compartment in a van - there is actually none and your fellow passengers are unlikely to appreciate your luggage stuck under their feet, alas.
