Siem Reap to Bangkok Destination Reviews

PV
Due to conflict bus was not going. We could change dates or get another connection. But that’s was not necessary if you have already booked everything in afvance. And a refund was not possible. So bad really bad service.

The bus in Cambodia was good and the one from the Thak border to Bangkok was comfortable aswell, but because of the situation between Cambodia and Thailand at the moment, the bus started in Siem Reap at 3:30 instead of 0:30 and arrived at 16:30 instead of 11:30. Good bus and service but very late and stressfull because of the border check between Cambodia and Thailand.

The bus was very comfortable and the conductor was polite and professional. Expect to walk and line up at both embassies. Bread and coffee was provided at the start. Lunch was also served.

The trip from siem reap to bankok was fine. The small bus is not as comfortable as the large ones but we knew that before. The drivers were good and organisation at the border was good too! We even arrived in bangkok 40 min. earlier then expected.

The trip from Siem Reap to the boarder was not too good. The driver made a lot of stops and picked up also a passenger along the way. He was always tickling his phone, and we almost crashed to the vehicle before us at one time. I was relaxed with the driver from the boarder to Bangkok though. He was better than the driver in the first leg of the trip.

English is commonly spoken in tourist areas, but learning basic Thai phrases is helpful. Overall, Bangkok is a dynamic place with diverse offerings for residents.

Is Bangkok safe for single men?

Bangkok is generally safe for single men, but as with any large city, it is important to exercise caution. Stick to well-lit, crowded areas, especially at night. Be wary of scams, particularly involving tuk-tuks and overly friendly strangers offering unsolicited help or invites. The city's nightlife is vibrant, but it is wise to keep an eye on your belongings and be cautious with alcohol consumption.

Transportation is reliable; use registered taxis or ride-sharing apps like Grab for safe travel. Tap water is not recommended for drinking; opt for bottled water instead. When dining, street food is popular and generally safe, but choose vendors with high turnover for fresh food. Keep your passport and valuables secure, and consider carrying a photocopy of your passport instead of the original.

Taxis are widely available, with a starting fare of 35 THB ($1). Ride-hailing apps like Grab offer convenience. For short distances, try tuk-tuks, but negotiate the fare beforehand.

Boats on the Chao Phraya River provide scenic transport to key attractions, with fares from 15 THB ($0.40). Walking is also feasible in areas like Sukhumvit and Silom. Traffic congestion is common, so allow extra travel time.

Tap water is not recommended for drinking; opt for bottled water instead.
