We were not met when the ferry arrived as we were told we would be. We walked around asking and looking for our connection.

Great experience!! The bus from start to finish was amazing, the bus was new, very clean and the seats recline to almost laying down. The bus driver and other staff were very helpful, friendly and they spoke great English. I was very comfortable the whole way to Bangkok, we stopped twice for food and arrived an hour early. My only constructive criticism is about the first food stop which left me a little disappointed- I have a rare medical condition, it’s an autoimmune disease I have take three different types of antihistamines throughout the day/while eating as I am allergic to almost everything but some foods cause anaphylactic shock. I had some issues arise before boarding the ferry which prevented me from getting some food for my trip. So when we arrived at the first stop, I tried to ask the only food stand for ingredients in the fried rice, she looked immediately looked annoyed of me, then spoke to the other person working her who then gave an uncomfortable glare and proceeded to ignore me. I asked again and they both ignored me again. I was so hungry, and could not eat for 6 more hours. The next stop happily got me steamed rice and fried eggs because I could eat the other food that was available, and she did it happily (I tipped her) I have lived in Thailand for two years, many many Thai people have read my phone with a smile and help with my food requests.

The ferry ride was really tough, everyone was throwing up because the waves were 3–5 meters high, but the staff were very attentive and handed out sick bags the whole time. The bus was fast too, with no small stops, just one big 30-minute break for food and such. Unfortunately, we were a bit delayed because of traffic in Bangkok, but otherwise everything was very well organized and uncomplicated.

I booked a ticket from Samui to Khaosan road, but they dropped me off at Ratchadamnoen road and I smelled weed all night long. Will remember this company and won’t use it again

But it was great for the confort and we arrived a the exacte place and it’s cheap. Just more detals would be great. Thks

How much do I need to live in Bangkok?

Living in Bangkok can vary significantly based on lifestyle. A basic budget for a single person renting a modest apartment in a non-central area might be around 25,000 THB ($700) per month. This includes rent (approximately 10,000 THB or $280), utilities (2,500 THB or $70), transportation (monthly BTS/MRT pass ~1,200 THB or $34), and food (10,000 THB or $280). Dining out at local eateries costs about 50-100 THB ($1.40-$2.80) per meal, while international restaurants are more expensive.

For a more comfortable lifestyle, including dining at nicer restaurants and occasional entertainment, the budget could rise to around 50,000 THB ($1,400) monthly. Tap water in Bangkok is not recommended for drinking; most residents opt for bottled water.

Is it safe to wear shorts in Bangkok?

Wearing shorts in Bangkok is generally acceptable and common, especially given the hot and humid climate. However, when visiting religious sites such as temples, it is important to dress modestly. This means wearing long pants or skirts and covering shoulders.

In other public places, shorts are fine, but consider lightweight and modest designs to respect local customs. For upscale restaurants or bars, dress codes may require longer pants and closed shoes. Always carry a light jacket or scarf for air-conditioned spaces where temperatures might be cooler.

Is Bangkok a friendly place?

Bangkok is generally considered welcoming to travelers. English is widely understood in tourist areas, making communication easier. Locals are often polite and helpful, especially in hospitality sectors. When visiting temples, dress modestly—covering shoulders and knees is appreciated.

For getting around, the BTS Skytrain and MRT subway are efficient and affordable options, with fares ranging from 16 to 59 THB ($0.50 to $1.60). Tuk-tuks are popular for short rides, though fares should be negotiated beforehand.

Street food is a highlight, offering dishes such as pad thai and som tam at around 30 to 60 THB ($0.80 to $1.70). Tap water is not recommended for drinking; opt for bottled water instead, which is widely available.

Staying aware of personal belongings in crowded areas, like markets and public transport, is advised for a safe experience.
