I booked the VIP Bus for the day ride and I used the VIP room on the ferry boat. Both were clean and on the bus everybody was able to sleep and relax in the seats with a blanket. On the bus, we got water and a little Snack. Before the bus, we were able to get lunch and in the middle of the bus right there was a stop at a Food Lounge Center. The bus ride lasted 2 hours longer to Bangkok, but that was okay.

Koh Phangan to Bangkok Khao San. Overall the logistics of this trip were handled really well, I was really impressed by the how refined the process was! They gave us stickers saying our end destination when we checked in for the ferry, then we had to check in again for the coach and received new stickers, assigned bus seats and a card telling us when the bus makes stops and for how long. It was very comforting for such a long journey. The only thing I didn’t like was how you can only sit inside on the ferry if you pay (200b?) to upgrade, so a lot of people are sat outside and upstairs in full sun and wind for hours. The 8:30am ferry took about 4 hrs and looked like it came from Ko Samui first as some people didn’t get off. It stopped at Ko Tao and a small island next to it on the way to Chumphon. We arrived and had just over 30 mins to check in, go to the bathroom and purchase food from the restaurant / shop. At 1pm about 7 coach loads of people left, after 3 hours the bus stopped for 30 mins at a food service station. We were due to arrive 5 hours later at 8:30pm but arrived around 9:45pm. The coach was comfortable, had a usb charging port, good aircon and a toilet which I didn’t use. Overall, great journey!

Where to avoid staying in Bangkok?

In Bangkok, areas like Patpong and parts of Khaosan Road might be less desirable for some travelers due to their bustling nightlife and sometimes rowdy atmosphere. While these areas are popular with some visitors, they may not suit families or those seeking tranquility. Additionally, Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy are known for their adult entertainment, which might not be ideal for all travelers.

For a more relaxed experience, consider staying in neighborhoods like Sukhumvit, Silom, or Sathorn, which offer a balance of convenience, dining, and accommodations. Public transportation, such as the BTS Skytrain and MRT, provides easy access to most parts of the city, making it feasible to explore without staying in the busiest areas. Always research accommodations and read recent reviews to ensure they meet your expectations and needs.

Does Bangkok have Grab or Uber?

Grab operates in Bangkok and is widely used for convenient transportation around the city. Uber is not available, as it sold its Southeast Asian operations to Grab. Grab offers various services, including car rides, motorbike taxis, and food delivery.

To use Grab, download the app on your smartphone, create an account, and link a payment method. Prices vary based on distance and traffic, but a typical ride within central Bangkok might cost around 100-200 THB ($3-$6).

Grab is a practical choice for getting around, especially if you prefer not to use traditional taxis or public transportation.
