Disappointing experience overall. I asked if my hotel could be added as a pickup point since it was only about 500 meters away and on the way, but the request was refused, so I had to walk there with my luggage. Communication during the trip was very poor. We were dropped off without explanation, didn’t know we had to take our bags, and were suddenly rushed to run for the ferry at the last minute. After the crossing, we had to wait about 1 hour and 15 minutes for the bus. The bus to Bangkok was extremely old, with terrible suspension and very smelly toilets, making the journey quite uncomfortable. For comparison, Ko chang Transport was much better organized: friendly staff, we stayed in the same van on the ferry, and everything was smooth and well coordinated. Trans Baan Ton felt much less organized.

Is there a ride-hailing app in Bangkok?

Yes, ride-hailing apps like Grab and Bolt are widely available in Bangkok. These apps offer convenient options for getting around the city, allowing you to choose from various vehicle types, including cars and motorbikes. Fares vary depending on the distance and type of vehicle, but a typical short ride within the city might cost around 100-150 THB ($3-$4.50). You can download these apps on your smartphone and pay via credit card or cash.

Additionally, traditional taxis are also available and can be hailed on the street, with fares starting at 35 THB ($1). Always ensure the driver uses the meter for accurate pricing.

Can foreigners use a go taxi in Bangkok?

Foreigners can use taxis in Bangkok easily. Look for marked taxis with a TAXI-METER sign on the roof. Most drivers understand basic English, but it helps to have your destination written in Thai. Ensure the driver uses the meter to avoid overcharging. Typical fares start at 35 THB ($1) for the first kilometer, then increase slightly per kilometer. Traffic congestion can affect the final fare.

Alternatively, ride-hailing apps like Grab provide a convenient, often cheaper alternative with upfront pricing and cashless payment options.

Is 4 days and 3 nights enough for Bangkok?

Four days and three nights provide a good amount of time to explore Bangkok's key attractions. You can visit the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, explore Wat Arun, and take a boat tour on the Chao Phraya River. Dedicate time to shopping and dining at places like Chatuchak Weekend Market and the bustling street food stalls in Chinatown. Consider a day trip to nearby attractions like Ayutthaya or the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.

Use the BTS Skytrain and MRT for efficient travel around the city; fares range from 16 to 59 THB ($0.45 to $1.65). Taxis are also affordable, with fares starting at 35 THB ($1). For dining, street food meals typically cost 40-100 THB ($1.10-$2.75), while a meal in a mid-range restaurant might be 200-500 THB ($5.50-$14). Tap water is not recommended; opt for bottled water.

Things to remember: Note that some of the airlines may have restrictions on checked luggage weight or require paying extra for check-in, choosing seats or transportation of oversized luggage.

If opting for a flight, calculate the time you will spend getting to and from the airports as well as the waiting time before your flight, getting through immigration in case of an international flight and recovering your checked luggage.

In certain cases all these procedures can add no less than 5 hours to your total travel time.
