My husband and I booked without seat reservation and we got seats in raw 3 and in raw 9. The seat beside my husband in raw 3 was not occupied. When I changed my seat after closing the door to the seat beside my husband I had to pay extra. That’s really bad and not nice.

All in all a good experience. We would book the trip again. The departure was on time but the arrival was delayed due to traffic. The bus was spacious, clean and not as cold as expected. We also got some snacks and drinks.

The seats were broken, and if the person in front reclined fully, you had to do the same or you’d have no space at all. The air conditioning blasted directly onto your head — freezing cold. You get water, a cookie, and a blanket, and there’s a 20-minute stop around midnight for food and toilets. But nobody spoke English or explained that the meal was included in the ticket, so we missed it. Twenty minutes is way too short for a 15–16 hour trip. The bus also stopped many times for local passengers to pick up food or something. Overall, it was just okay

We departed late the driver wasn’t on time, it took around 15 Hours to get to my destination. When the ride was 11 hours / 12 max … it took 4+ extra hours to get there. And my bags were very dirty from being stored poorly on the bus storage unit :(

How do tourists pay in Phuket?

Tourists in Phuket typically use a combination of cash and credit/debit cards. ATMs are widely available, dispensing Thai Baht. It is common for smaller vendors and local markets to prefer cash, while larger establishments like hotels and restaurants usually accept major credit cards. When using cards, ensure they are enabled for international transactions and be aware of any foreign transaction fees.

For convenience, it is advisable to carry some cash for street food, taxis, or small purchases. Currency exchange booths are plentiful, especially in tourist areas, but comparing rates can be beneficial. Mobile payment apps are gaining popularity but are not universally accepted by all local businesses yet. Always inform your bank of your travel plans to avoid any card issues.

Does Phuket have beaches?

Phuket is known for its beaches, offering a variety of options for visitors.

Patong Beach is popular for water sports and nightlife, while Kata Beach is known for its surfing and family-friendly environment. For a quieter experience, Nai Harn Beach offers a more relaxed atmosphere.

Each beach provides rental services for umbrellas and loungers, typically costing around 100-200 THB ($3-6). Many beachside vendors offer snacks and beverages. Public access is generally free, but some private areas may require a fee.

Travelers should be cautious of strong currents during certain seasons, especially at less sheltered beaches.

Why is Phuket important?

Phuket is a key destination due to its beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural heritage. Patong Beach is known for nightlife, while Kata and Karon offer more relaxed atmospheres. The Old Phuket Town features Sino-Portuguese architecture and local markets.

For transportation, tuk-tuks and taxis are common, with fares starting around 200 THB ($5.50) for short trips. Renting a scooter is popular, costing about 200-300 THB ($5.50-$8) per day.

Dining ranges from street food to upscale restaurants, with meals from 50 THB ($1.40) at local eateries to 1500 THB ($41) at fine dining venues. Tap water is not advisable for drinking; bottled water is recommended.

Cultural tips include respecting local customs, like dressing modestly when visiting temples. The rainy season from May to October may affect travel plans, so visiting between November and April is preferable for better weather.

Things to remember: Note that some of the airlines may have restrictions on checked luggage weight or require paying extra for check-in, choosing seats or transportation of oversized luggage.

If opting for a flight, calculate the time you will spend getting to and from the airports as well as the waiting time before your flight, getting through immigration in case of an international flight and recovering your checked luggage.

In certain cases all these procedures can add no less than 5 hours to your total travel time.
