Took 4 hours longer. Had to wait for transfer for 3 hours. Busdriver of second bus stopt at least 30 times and was also a mailman. Second bus was also disgusting

The seat that they placed me in was not the same seat that I booked online. The bus that was described on the app was completely different from the bus that we were assigned too and the seating was completely different. The seats were smaller, the blankets they gave us were unwrapped and distressed because of being overused. It was evident that this was a completely different bus than what was described online. Moreover when I questioned the staff about this issue they continued to shrug me off, talk about me in Thai, and even laugh at me amongst each other. I could see strands of hair on the packaging of the complimentary water bottle/food that they handed out to guest which made me question if the seat was even cleaned before passengers loaded the bus. The dismissive nature of the staff and the lack of concern for the issue I addressed left me distraught and conflicted about what to do because the trip would span several hours in unsavory conditions. I was extremely disappointed with this booking and how the issue was handled by the staff. Nothing about this experience was comfortable.

The stewardess did not tell the other people to stop watching movies on their phones loudly. It is a night bus. The rest stop used to be in an AC hall with food served on the table. Now you have to queue some mediocre food with limited to 2 servings. Not at all the same as before. People stood outside the bus (farang) and smoked marijuana so when they came back to the bus it smelt bad.

The service was great, but unfortunately the driver stopped so much an the lay over took to long. They said I arrived 11:50. But this was 16:00. This made my trip a bit uncomfortable. But for the rest everything was top!

I had to pay an extra 600 baht for mini van to Patong. I paid for the full trip on 12Go said nothing about extra money. They sent the bus back to Bangkok and said you have to get shared minivan from here. So I had no other choice but to pay the extra. It should be put on the listing as Bangkok to Surat Thani not Patong as they don’t take you full way.

They said the transfer waiting time at Surat Thani was 20 minutes. But it turned up to be 3.5 hours. I arrived to my destination almost 6 hours later than scheduled. Also the lady at the transfer station

How do tourists pay in Phuket?

Tourists in Phuket typically use a combination of cash and credit/debit cards. ATMs are widely available, dispensing Thai Baht. It is common for smaller vendors and local markets to prefer cash, while larger establishments like hotels and restaurants usually accept major credit cards. When using cards, ensure they are enabled for international transactions and be aware of any foreign transaction fees.

For convenience, it is advisable to carry some cash for street food, taxis, or small purchases. Currency exchange booths are plentiful, especially in tourist areas, but comparing rates can be beneficial. Mobile payment apps are gaining popularity but are not universally accepted by all local businesses yet. Always inform your bank of your travel plans to avoid any card issues.

Does Phuket have beaches?

Phuket is known for its beaches, offering a variety of options for visitors.

Patong Beach is popular for water sports and nightlife, while Kata Beach is known for its surfing and family-friendly environment. For a quieter experience, Nai Harn Beach offers a more relaxed atmosphere.

Each beach provides rental services for umbrellas and loungers, typically costing around 100-200 THB ($3-6). Many beachside vendors offer snacks and beverages. Public access is generally free, but some private areas may require a fee.

Travelers should be cautious of strong currents during certain seasons, especially at less sheltered beaches.

Why is Phuket important?

Phuket is a key destination due to its beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural heritage. Patong Beach is known for nightlife, while Kata and Karon offer more relaxed atmospheres. The Old Phuket Town features Sino-Portuguese architecture and local markets.

For transportation, tuk-tuks and taxis are common, with fares starting around 200 THB ($5.50) for short trips. Renting a scooter is popular, costing about 200-300 THB ($5.50-$8) per day.

Dining ranges from street food to upscale restaurants, with meals from 50 THB ($1.40) at local eateries to 1500 THB ($41) at fine dining venues. Tap water is not advisable for drinking; bottled water is recommended.

Cultural tips include respecting local customs, like dressing modestly when visiting temples. The rainy season from May to October may affect travel plans, so visiting between November and April is preferable for better weather.

Things to remember: Note that some of the airlines may have restrictions on checked luggage weight or require paying extra for check-in, choosing seats or transportation of oversized luggage.

If opting for a flight, calculate the time you will spend getting to and from the airports as well as the waiting time before your flight, getting through immigration in case of an international flight and recovering your checked luggage.

In certain cases all these procedures can add no less than 5 hours to your total travel time.

Things to remember: When travelling by van with huge luggage buying a separate seat for your suitcase or backpack is a good idea. Do not expect there is a roomy luggage compartment in a van - there is actually none and your fellow passengers are unlikely to appreciate your luggage stuck under their feet, alas.
