Honest review, it was pretty good. We got a snack and a drink at the beginning of ride which was nice. The bus makes some noises, but nothing too bad. The snoring of someone was the worst, which resulted in people not being able to sleep including me. Then we had to get out at around 12 for a quick food stop. At 05:30 we had to get out for a transfer to a smaller bus to the pier, and we had to wait for more than an hour. Then an hour drive took us to the pier, and the ferry to Koh Samui was beautiful.

The seats were pretty comfortable, so that was fine, we had a bit of delay because of the traffic, but that’s not the operators fault. The toilet was quite bad to be honest, it reeked pretty bad and you could smell it through the whole bus. The organization was good, we were briefed prior to the bus drive. There was also food prepared for us which is nice. Food was not the best but it was ok.

Light on/off, hard ac right on my head (if so turn it off it gets so hot), change bus and and wait at some strange place. Trying to sell expensive taxi rides to people. Chang to a bus with small seats and no cover to ac. Just open pipe. Not nice. Wrong arrival time. It Asia’s 9:30 but impossible because ferry leave at 9 every time.

Is Koh Samui good for solo travel?

Koh Samui is suitable for solo travelers, offering a range of activities and easy navigation. Public transportation includes songthaews (shared taxis) and motorbike rentals, with daily rates around 250 THB ($7). Popular beaches like Chaweng and Lamai are lively, providing opportunities to meet other travelers. For a quieter experience, consider Bophut or Mae Nam beaches.

Dining options include local street food, with meals costing about 50-100 THB ($1.50-$3), and more upscale restaurants. Visiting the Big Buddha, Hin Ta and Hin Yai rocks, and exploring Ang Thong National Marine Park are recommended activities.

Regarding safety, Koh Samui is generally safe, but it is advisable to keep valuables secure and be cautious when renting and riding motorbikes. Tap water is not recommended for drinking; purchase bottled water instead.

What is the best part of Koh Samui to stay?

Chaweng Beach is a popular area to stay in Koh Samui, known for its vibrant nightlife, extensive dining options, and wide range of accommodations from budget hostels to luxury resorts. This area is ideal for those looking to be in the center of the action with easy access to restaurants, bars, and shopping.

For a quieter experience, Bophut offers a charming atmosphere with its Fisherman's Village, featuring boutique hotels and beachfront dining. Lamai Beach is another quieter option, offering a more relaxed vibe and beautiful beach scenery.

Transportation is convenient, with taxis and songthaews (shared trucks) available to explore the island. Accommodations range from ~1,000 to 15,000 THB per night ($30 to $450), depending on the type and location. Tap water is not safe to drink, so use bottled water for drinking.

Is one day enough in Koh Samui?

One day in Koh Samui can provide a brief but enjoyable experience. Start your day at Chaweng Beach for some early morning relaxation. Visit the Big Buddha temple (Wat Phra Yai) for cultural insights, then head to Fisherman's Village in Bophut for lunch, where you can enjoy local Thai dishes.

In the afternoon, consider a quick visit to the Na Muang Waterfall for natural scenery. For transportation, renting a scooter (~250 THB/day, $7) is convenient for getting around. End your day at one of the beachside restaurants for dinner, where a meal typically costs around 200-400 THB ($5-11).

Tap water is not safe to drink, so opt for bottled water. While one day provides a taste of the island, a longer stay is recommended to explore more attractions and enjoy leisure time.
