In-town

Budget

Starting in town is an array of guesthouses and hotels. Most have cheap basic fan rooms satisfying the travellers who are passing through on the way to Koh Tao, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui.

Farang Bar and Fame Guesthouse are two of the more popular destinations, both housing restaurants as well as travel agencies to help book connections to other locations. Farang Bar on Thatapao Rd has basic double bed guest rooms with shared bathrooms starting at THB200. Note that it is quite a simple accommodation and a noisy one as well.

Fame Guesthouse has rooms from basic double bed with fans and shared bathrooms starting at THB150 to ensuite for THB300. Located on Saladang Rd 200 meters from Chumphon train station and only minutes from Ocean Mall and the Night Market.

Mid-range

On a budget or just prefer dorms? Salsa Hostel is the social spot but also provides privates for those that love the hostel atmosphere but want their own privacy. All include air-conditioning and free breakfast hosted from 5.30 am to 10 am. Should the traveller need to quench their thirst, an on-site bar serves up a wide range of local beers and snacks. Dorms start around THB270 and privates with ensuite at THB750

A-Te Chumphon Hotel’s name is derived from an ancient dialect in the province and means “relax” or “at ease”. The accommodation features 56 rooms, a salt water swimming pool, fitness centre, massage, restaurant and pool bar. The rooms range from standard up to the Presidential suite and start at THB1700.

Opened a couple years ago is the uniquely designed Retro Box Hotel built out of shipping containers. Featuring an outdoor swimming pool and approximately 1 km from the train station, all rooms have ensuite and air-conditioning and house 1-2 guests. The cheapest room, also known as the mini room starts at THB690 where the Mezzanine or Jacuzzi room run for THB1800. The Jacuzzi room has 3 different designs: a boxing ring, lord and princess theme.

Out amongst the beaches, mostly along the Pathio Coast, there are a number of guesthouses, bungalows, and resorts.

Budget

Had Suay Resort, located on Ao Bo Mao Beach, Pathio, Chumphon has basic, modern bungalows with individual balconies, air-conditioning, and cable TV. Prices range from THB400-600 and have free pick up from the airport.

Seeking peace and quiet in a tranquil setting then look no further than Mu Ko Chumphon National Park. The Pong Pang Viewpoint has a camping area and bungalows. Bungalows are THB600 or preferring to rough it, dorm beds with no bedding are available for THB50. Entrance fee to the park is THB200.

Mid-range

Nana Beach Resort in Thung Wua Laen Beach, Saphli, Pathio, Chumphon is about 15 km from the city and has its own private spot on the beach. Includes a swimming pool, restaurant, cable TV, air-conditioning and private balconies, their rates start at THB1000.

Chumphon Cabana Resort & Diving Centre, also on Thung Wua Laen Beach is fantastic accommodation for travellers wanting to dive and relax. Rooms feature ensuite and air-conditioning and the resort has many facilities including swimming pools, spa, restaurant and a dive centre. Rooms and bungalows start at THB1500 for 2 adults and include free breakfast.

Top end

Want to go out all our and splurge for a few nights? Try the Sara Beachfront Boutique Resort at Bang Son Beach. At prices starting close to THB3000, every suite is beach and pool front and provide expansive views of the ocean and mountains. Facilities include a beachside infinity pool with swim up bar, jacuzzi, fitness room, spa and an on-site restaurant with breakfast included in the price.

Not matter the style of accommodation preferred, Chumphon has something that is guaranteed to suit any budget or need.
