Lots of unnecessary honking and the drivers were watching loud movies on their phones

The bus and the office staff in Sapa and Hanoi are five stars. Each cabin has a nice blanket and pillow, and the seats have a massage function that you control with a remote. The WiFi on my bus didn’t work, but the TV worked (only shows Vietnamese programs). The bus played an announcement in English as well as Vietnamese when we pulled into the rest stops, and that was helpful. The bus has a WC on board, which was clean. Up until our arrival in Hanoi, it was a five-star trip, but things fell apart on arrival. My ticket was booked to 70 Nguyen Hữu Huân, but the trip ended at a different location, and passengers were told to board a minibus that would take us to 70 Nguyen Hữu Huân. The driver of the minibus was rude — he dropped some passengers at their hotels but refused to do so for others, including me. Another passenger asked him where her dropoff would be, and he refused to answer her. He continued to drive around the Old Quarter but refused to drop off passengers whose hotels were in that neighborhood. I eventually just got off the minibus and got a Grab to my hotel, although the whole thing wasted about an hour of my time, plus this was after midnight, so I did not feel safe as I waited for my Grab ride. Because of this, I’d probably just go with Sao Viet in the future — the buses aren’t as fancy, but at least there was no nonsense like the HK minibus experience.

All the employees were rude, only talk in Vietnamese. Were treated badly because we are tourists compared to the good service for Vietnamese people. Really bad driving.

We were 30 min ahead of time, but the driver dropped us off at the International terminal although we had clearly booked the national terminal. I even asked him. It was no Problem, but we had to take another bus to the domestic terminal.

Ride was fine. Again instructions for pick up were wrong. Not the friendliest desk either.

Had an amazing journey from Sapa to Hanoi. The driver made 2 halts for passengers to freshen up as the journey was more than 5hrs. The beds were comfortable and it was a great experience travelling. The communication was prompt, timely and very friendly with reminders on whatsapp. Would highly recommend G8 Tours for your next inter-city travel.

Some have no seat belts in place. No handle bars to hold inside the cabin.

We weren't told in advance that we couldn't take food onboard. A long drive like that with an infant is very difficult when they need to eat. Additionally the location that they stop at for a short break is an absolute rip off, everything was at least 3 times the usual price

Train

Train is a often a great choice for long-haul travel especially if you opt for a night sleeper train with berths which will allow you to sleep all your journey through. To make the most of your train journey, choose the class of your ticket wisely.

Note that there are air-conditioned and fan-only carriages; private compartments for 2 or 4; hard and soft seats.
Though the upper class you get the smoother is your journey, often second class air-conditioned or fan-only sleepers are a good money saving alternative.

Van

Vans are a great alternative - or, in many cases - your only option - if you need to travel overland within one and the same province or neighbouring provinces or states. Vans ply the roads between Sapa and Hanoi, too.

Things to remember: When travelling by van with huge luggage buying a separate seat for your suitcase or backpack is a good idea. Do not expect there is a roomy luggage compartment in a van - there is actually none and your fellow passengers are unlikely to appreciate your luggage stuck under their feet, alas.
