Should I tip taxi in Da Nang?

Tipping taxi drivers in Da Nang is not a common practice, but it is appreciated. Most fares include the cost of the ride, and drivers don’t expect additional tips. However, rounding up to the nearest 10,000 VND or leaving small change is seen as courteous, especially for good service. Some taxi companies, such as Mai Linh or Vinasun, have consistent pricing and reliable drivers. If you receive exceptional service, such as help with heavy luggage or efficient route navigation, a modest tip is a kind gesture. Keep in mind that cash is preferred since digital tipping options may not be available.
  • Standard tipping: Rounding up the fare.
  • Cash tips are most appreciated.
  • Helpful for exceptional service but not required.
Offering a tip is entirely at your discretion but shows gratitude in a way drivers understand.

Is it better to live in Hanoi or Da Nang?

The decision depends on lifestyle preferences, work, and climate. Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, offers rich history, cultural landmarks, and a larger urban economy, making it ideal for career opportunities and experiencing northern traditions. However, its traffic congestion and cooler winters may deter some. Da Nang, a coastal city, provides a more relaxed lifestyle with clean beaches, modern infrastructure, and a warmer, tropical climate. It’s popular among expats seeking a balance between work and leisure, especially with its proximity to UNESCO sites like Hoi An and My Son.
  • Hanoi: Capital, cultural hub, cooler climate.
  • Da Nang: Coastal, relaxed, warmer weather.
  • Key factors: career, climate, lifestyle.
Both cities offer distinct advantages, so evaluate personal priorities when choosing.

What time do things close in Da Nang?

Closing times in Da Nang vary by business type. Restaurants and coffee shops generally close around 9 PM to 10 PM, though some street food vendors may stay open later. Shopping malls like Vincom Plaza usually close by 9:30 PM. Bars and nightclubs in the My Khe Beach area often stay open until midnight or later, depending on demand. For tourist attractions, such as the Marble Mountains or the Dragon Bridge, visits typically end by 6 PM or after the evening light shows.
  • Restaurants: Close by 9–10 PM.
  • Malls: Typically close around 9:30 PM.
  • Bars/clubs: Midnight or later.
Plan activities accordingly to maximize your time and consider confirming hours for specific venues to avoid inconvenience.

Hanoi to Da Nang Destination Reviews

Too congested. Didn't stop for washroom break. Rude staff

Awful from start to end. In the 15 hour journey we stopped once, all other stops were ones we couldn't take a break on (just so they could deliver packages) the toilet was blocked the whole way, and continued to get used, so it stank of urine. There were ants and who know what else. I left with bites on my legs, which I can only assume were bed bug bites from the unwashed blankets and pillows. No WiFi or charging ports available. We had to transfer to a different bus in Hue, another Sleeper Bus. The driver and other staff were very rude, shooing people away when the bus would stop (people assumed it was for a rest stop) everything was dirty, it was uncomfortable, smelt of mold. Overall I would rather walk next time, do not take this company.

Advertised as high quality train adventure. Rather disappointed, and would rate at average as best. A bottle of water was the welcome drink, are you kidding?

Six of us traveling. We booked 4 beds in 1 cabin and 2 in another cabin. And did not notice that the confirmed tickets had 3 & 3, which means we had 1 person join us in each cabin. The operator tried to ‘fix’ it but we had to change a lower berth to an upper berth bed!!!

My sleeping area was clean. The driver was safe and didn't drive fast. The charger port worked and I had a/c, so I was comfortable throughout the ride. My only complaint is just the bathroom. It was pretty bad and smelled terrible. Don't sit in the back of the bus if you don't want to smell that the whole ride.

My GF thinks it only deserves 1 star but Im giving 1 more because it took us from point A to point B. That's all the good I can say. Narrow vehicle, bad attitude of the people in charge, constant smell of urine, non-existent security measures (every time the bus braked we slid forward without having anything to hold on to)

Trip was OK, bus relatively comfortable although the bathroom was very dirty. Also, the bus driver was very rude, and smoked throughout the trip. Arrived about an hour late, which was fine for me, but is important to note.

Uncomfortable, arrived 2hrs late, spent 1hr of the journey on a different bus waiting in traffic around Hanoi picking people up. Paid extra to have Wi-Fi and when asked about it got laughed and told no Wi-Fi.

The staff was very unpleasant, they did not give information and they did not tell us that it was time to go down, luckily we just woke up and went down on time, Also what we paid was not as shown in the image
