Koh Samui to Krabi Destination Reviews

Ferry departed a bit late, but we made up time and arrived maybe 10 min late. Between ferry and bus, there was enough time to buy water, use toilet and smoke a cigarette. Staff was guiding us well to correct buses. Double decker bus was clean and very comfy.

This provider goes from two piers. We went to the wrong pier. The providers weren’t very helpful with the advise. We missed our ferry from the actual rest

The driver decided to want to charge us 600 baht for our cases which we had no choice in paying The van was uncomfortable with no legroom , my wife is 61 and has bad hip, even so the driver put us in the front row of seats with little foot space let alone legroom Big fuss made by the company that there was massive traffic jams to our hotel due to the festival and wanted to drop off at a supermarket some 1 hour walk away. Which wasn’t acceptable to me, in the end after some pressure they took us to the hotel. NO traffic jams. IMO driver was rather rude

I am disappointed with the Koh Samui – Krabi transfer (ferry + bus). We arrived almost at 18:00, while according to the schedule the arrival time was 14:00. A delay of nearly four hours is unacceptable. Overall, the trip was poorly organized and stressful. I hope the company improves its service and time management.

Smooth process from start to finish. I was worried after reading the reviews but we picked our tickets up at the Samui Phantip office where they were very organised. Ferry was smooth and on time. Easy to locate the Krabi bus, it took a while to leave but nothing to complain about. Journey was fine, driver did not speed, and drove responsibly in heavy rain. We had backpacks and did not have to pay any extra to put them in the hold. The guy measured people's suitcases and large ones were charged 100 baht.

The ferry was one our late Which is not the fault of the company and the driver waits for us It was a chaos to find the right minivan at the pier No organisation Because there where no city names on the minivans We habe to ask several times Two of the guests took the wrong mini van and we have to return to change the guests The mini van was too full and the driver drove in a very dangerous way We were afraid He didn’t leave space to the front cars on the highway and has difficulties to stop in time For tall people it is difficult to find space for the legs

The ferry was nice, not so much info when we arrived. We booked for a van but got put in a bus, had to wait a long time so then we decided to take a taxi instead

Up until the ferry everything went smooth. But then the lady of the minivan looked at my ticket scanned it and all seemed to be ok. Until we went to Ao Nang and I was suppose to go to Krabi. The lady was just as surprised as me, but no apology whatsoever. I asked her if she then can drop me at my hotel, since I was the only one left and to safe a bit of time (delay would be over 1,5h). But she then started lying and said this was suppose to be the route all along. If everything would have went well, rating would have been good of course. But im that single case probably ;)

Why are Koh Samui and Krabi famous?

Koh Samui and Krabi are popular for their unique attractions and natural beauty. Koh Samui is known for its palm-fringed beaches, coconut groves, and luxury resorts, making it a preferred destination for relaxation and wellness retreats. Visitors often explore the Big Buddha statue and the Na Muang Waterfalls.

Krabi, on the other hand, is renowned for its dramatic limestone cliffs, clear waters, and vibrant marine life. It serves as a gateway to the Phi Phi Islands and Railay Beach, ideal for rock climbing and snorkeling.

Both destinations offer a variety of dining options, with local Thai dishes and fresh seafood being highlights. Transportation includes flights to nearby airports and ferries between islands. Accommodations range from budget-friendly hostels to high-end resorts, catering to diverse traveler preferences.

What should I wear in Krabi?

Light, breathable clothing is recommended due to the tropical climate. Cotton garments, shorts, and T-shirts are suitable for daytime activities. For temple visits, wear modest clothing that covers the shoulders and knees. A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses can help protect against the sun.

During the rainy season (May to October), consider waterproof footwear and a light rain jacket. For dining at more upscale venues, smart casual attire is appropriate. Flip-flops or sandals are practical for beach outings. Don't forget swimwear for beach activities and water adventures.

What is the best area in Krabi to stay?

Ao Nang is a popular area to stay, offering a range of accommodations from budget hostels to luxury resorts. It is convenient for accessing beaches, restaurants, and tour services for island hopping.

Railay Beach, accessible only by boat, provides a more secluded environment with stunning cliffs and caves, ideal for rock climbing enthusiasts.

For a quieter experience, consider Klong Muang, which hosts upscale resorts with private beaches.

Prices in Ao Nang for mid-range hotels typically range from 1,500 to 3,000 THB ($45-$90) per night. Railay Beach can be more expensive due to its remote access, with prices around 2,500 to 5,000 THB ($75-$150) per night. Klong Muang offers similar price ranges to Railay.

Ensure transportation options are considered, as some areas require boat transfers.
