Ha Giang to Hanoi Destination Reviews

GK
Didn't confirm booking for 40 minutes (which is apparently okay because they don't have to confirm within 5 hours, with my bus leaving in 4 I found it a pretty week excuse) Asked for a refund, which instead they confirmed the booking a minute after my request. I asked for a reason because the pickup spot which said Ha giang, was infact an hour and 10 minutes away. The combination of the 40 minutes to confirm, and needing to travel an hour and 10.. left me no time to arrange a taxi to take me that distance. When I talked to customer service they ignored the fact I used the app which didn't specify the pickup spots until AFTER the booking. Directing me to the website I didn't use. In addition to this the customer service team thought I was a German couple and sent me their ticket details with their names but my email and number. After all of this I was unable to make it to the pickup spot as it was late at night. No consideration from the support team and the instant confirmation after the request for a refund is an incredibly poor business practice. Well done for being appalling in every step of the process. Also they have a clause in their booking to contact them before making a review to resolve issues, but made no effort to resolve the issue.

The bus itself was good, but it arrived at a different place than stated on the website. The location given on 12go asia is inside the old quarter, whereas the bus arrived in a totally different part of Hanoi at a big bus station, so I had to take a grab to the city center.

The bus was very late. More than 3 hours on a 6 hour journey.

Risky driving. Two busses of the same company were kind of racing each other from hagiang to Hanoi. The young driver was on the phone very often. Two nearly crashes were avoided by the driver but they would have been less probable when the driver wouldn’t have been driving so pushy…

The only stop along the way was not a service station but a run-down restaurant right at the edge of a small town.

We were ca 90 minutes late. The driver who brought us to the hotel didn’t speak a word English and was extremely unfriendly. He yelled at me because he stopped somewhere and told us to hop off. We didn‘t as we didn‘t know where we were. In the end it was the right place but we didn‘t know and he didn‘t tell us. Maybe we could have had a look at google maps, but it is still not a reason to yell at me. Never again!

Bus was not as described. No TV, no toilet, slow WiFi. No transport to hotel in Hanoi.

The pickup from the location was a bit confusing and hectic. You didnt really know what bus belongs to what company. Once on the road everything seemed fine. The sleeping seat was spacious and comfortable. While sleeping we suddenly woke up by a big bang. Glas from a shattered window was over my wife on the bed next to me. We aren’t sure what exactly happened whether the bus hit a streetpole when coming off the road a bit or if it hit another truck while passing. Accidents can happen though and we are glad my wife didnt get injured. Almost a miracle in my opinion since a big sharp piece of window glass ended up right next to my wife’s face. The bus kept driving for a minute before coming to a stop. During that stop we told the bus driver with the help of google translate that the window on the upper back right seat was shattered. They didnt seem to care. Since the bus was completely full and some laying even on the ground there was no other space for her to go so we shared the same bed/seat for the rest of the trip back to Ha Noi. After some time someone came to clean the glass of the seat and tried to tape the window from outside the bus in order to prevent further damage to the window i guess. On the rest of the drive we kept stoping for a little bit to apply more tape etc. Around half an hour before arriving at the drop off location we got asked to change to a van that will drop us off at the destination. The van was completely full though so my wife, i and a third passenger ended up having to stand inside the van. Overall we aren’t happy how things went but I think if the accident hadn’t had happened the overall experience would have been 4 stars instead of 2 with the pick up procedure being the only criticism.
