Chiang Mai to Ayutthaya Destination Reviews

PD
We had bought a ticket to Ayuttaya and even though we told the stewardess 3 times that we were getting off in Ayuttaya, the driver didn't stop and we drove all the way to Bangkok.

The trip wasn't really nice. No boarding at Terminal 3 as agreed, but transfer in songthaew to another location. Fortunately, in the absence of indications on the starting platform, we, along with others, sought explanations at the counter. At the time of boarding, only one person, a little overwhelmed, managed the passengers of five vehicles, i.e. 200 people, all in great confusion. The bus was comfortable, but we were disembarked at the side of the highway and not at the lotus tesco as planned. An unfortunate experience that I do not advise anyone. 12go would be wise to offer its customers more serious operators

The good: seats reclined, bus was in an ok state, we got given two water bottles, a snack and a mcdonalds burger, AC worked The bad: bus left on time but arrived 2.5 hours late, of which at a stretch 45 minutes could be attributed to road works, the rest I’m honestly not sure. In the 11 hours it took to get from Chiang Mai to Ayutthaya we stopped a few times to pick up passengers, sometimes for quite a while, but no announcements were made to existing passengers about being able to get off to use a proper bathroom or get food, the attendant didn’t speak any English so you sort of had to guess if you have long enough time to pop out and hope the bus didn’t leave without you - bit dicey as a solo traveler. As some other reviews mentioned you don’t get left at the bus stop but on the side of a highway next to the big Lotus (which is not quite as bad as it sounds as there’s some benches and a convenience store and I was able to get a grab taxi quickly but something to keep in mind), I wonder if you could just get any ol Bangkok-bound bus and ask them to pull over

Overpriced - I booked a ticket from Chiang Mai to ayutthaya for 1000 baht. Got to the station only to find that the bus is operated by cherdchai and it's the normal bus to bangkok. They dropped me off on the side of the highway, not at the pin sent in the ticket. I was literally pulling my luggage out of the storage with cars screaming by 3 feet away. i could have just booked a normal ticket to Bangkok for 700 baht and asked to be let off at the same place. Now I know better. Bus departed 30 minutes late and arrived almost 2 hours late, without any bad traffic, just bc of stopping so long at each stop. The seats were much more uncomfortable than your average bus in Thailand. As a 6ft tall person I was hunched over by the curvature and had a crick in my neck for 2 days afterwards. And the bus reeked of urine for much of the 10 hour trip. Would recommend against booking with Tara.

She was very flexible (we changed our departure time 3 times), great communication before the ride, very friendly and nice! Which made our trip very pleasant and the car is also very comfortable.

It was fine but we nearly missed our stop because the train official for our carriage did not make it clear where we were. We had asked him how far we still had to go and fortunately the writing of each station is also in English and we saw that we had reached our stop. We just grabbed our luggage and pushed our way through the passengers who had boarded and just got off.

I was supposed to go from Chiang Mai to Ayutthaya, I told the driver, and they even mad a special notice of it on my ticket. Yet they forgot to stop in Ayutthaya, and I had to ride over half an hour longer until the bus stopped for gas, I knocked on the door and asked to get off right there, and had to pay to take me all the way back to where I was supposed to go, which was over 40 minutes away. Very frustrating.

Did not like the train journey. Health and Safety is a serious issue. Their are no facilities for the elderly or disabled to board the train.
