Ranong Hotels, Guesthouses and Resorts

The majority of accommodation in Ranong is located in the centre of town. This is where most of the restaurants and bars are situated so we recommend staying here so that you are within walking distance of all the local amenities.

If you are purely staying in Ranong as a gateway destination to Koh Phayam, Koh Chang Noi or Kawthaung in Myanmar you may prefer to stay closer to the airport or pier.

As Ranong isn’t on the main tourist trail yet, 88most of the accommodation is tailored towards budget, intrepid travellers**. Therefore, you can find decent rooms and dorms at great value prices. If you’re more of a flashpacker, fear not, there are a few good options in Ranong for you too. Here we detail a few of our favourite accommodation choices:

Budget

Nalin Place Ranong (196/36 Moo.4 Thamueang rd. Bangrin, Mueang, Ranong) offers no frills accommodation in the centre of Ranong. Each of the rooms has air-con and wifi which usually ticks most of the boxes for budget travellers. There are some nice touches throughout the hotel including feature walls and quirky furniture, and the bedrooms all include towels and in-room fridges too.

If you want to stay right in the heart of the action, Luang Poj Boutique Hostel (225 Ruangrat Rd, Ranong) is probably your best bet. It is just a stone’s throw from bars, restaurants, markets and songthaews meaning you can easily get around town too. The orange building stands out from the rest and if you spot vintage décor you’ll know you’re in the right place. The rooms have shared bathrooms and most include air-conditioning.
A night in a private room at Nalin Place or Luang Poj will set you back around THB600 per night.

Mid-range

For flashpackers on a medium budget, places like The Farmhouse (The FarmHouse Hotel Ranong, Bang Non, Mueang Ranong District, Ranong) or Tinidee (41/144 Tamuang Road, Kao Nives, Muang, Ranong Town, 85000 Ranong, Thailand) are good options.

The Farmhouse boasts spacious, comfortable bedrooms and a well-known on-site restaurant, while Tinidee is known for having great facilities including outdoor pools, spa and fitness centre. At both of these hotels you can get a large double bedroom with access to all the amenities for around THB1350 a night. Tinidee also has a sister hotel next door which feature more budget rooms but these also benefit from having access to the main communal facilities – this is a great choice for travellers looking to have the best of both worlds!

Top end

If you’re happy to splash out a bit The Hidden Resort is an amazing option (145/94 Moo 4, T.Bang-Norn A.Muang, 85000 Ranong, Thailand). Despite being nestled amidst lush tropical gardens – and feeling completely remote as a result – The Hidden Resort is actually really well-located in central Ranong. The grounds are superior to that of others in the area and the resort features modern bedrooms and exquisite communal areas. Each room has western beds, en-suite facilities, flatscreen TVs, in-room fridges, air-conditioning and wifi throughout. The Hidden café offers quality cuisine and refreshments including great brunch options as well as local Thai food.

If you have your own wheels, The Hidden Resort has free parking on site. The hotel also provides bicycle rental for a small charge which allows you to explore the surrounding area of Ranong if you don’t have a car or motorbike.

As more and more travellers make their way to Ranong - whether as a destination in its own right or as a stopover to the islands and southern Burma – the infrastructure will continue to increase and there will be an even greater range of accommodation options on offer. Until then, we suggest the above hotels for a clean and comfortable stay.
