Nakhon Si Thammarat Thailand – 4 Budget and Mid-Range Guesthouses and Hotels

Budget accommodation in Nakhon Si Thammarat has several outstanding options listed below though in general the standards are not very high in town. Do not expect any luxury – if you are after good quality rooms you will have to put up with the only one option.

Budget accommodation

A few steps from the train station, the long time running Nakhon Hotel (1477/5 Yommarat Rd) is still one of the cheapest option to sleep in town. Despite it is urgently in need of a deep renovation, the staff makes his best to keep it clean and attractive to western tourists, and the great location and the unbeatable rates make the rest. For THB200 (even less if you’re a solo traveler) you can have a quite spacious double room with a fan and an attached bathroom that defining basic would be an overestimation. A few English words are commonly spoken at the reception.

If Nakhon Hotel is exceptionally full booked, just wander around the train station and you’ll find a bunch of similar hotels offering simple fan rooms for few more baht, or slightly more expensive air-con rooms. Anyway since the offer in the low-end range is very limited and not really appealing, unless you’re on a strict tight budget we would suggest you to invest a few hundred baht more and you’ll immediately have a lot better value for the money.

A great example is Muang Khon Guest House (30/347-8 Pattana Kan Kukwang Rd); a little bit out of the way, it is located 1,3 km east of the train station, just past the main road 4012. The rooms are quite big, with wooden furnishings, thick soft mattresses, clean tile floor, air-condition, flat screen TV, Wi-Fi and private bathroom with hot shower. The walk in rate at THB490 is a bargain, and you can even find cheaper prices on internet if you book in advance (at the moment of writing, we could book a room at THB390). The staff is friendly and helpful, and able to speak a basic English. The location is not ideal but still at walking distance from Ratchadamnoen road.

If you prefer to stay closer to the center, Teeny House (12/51 Soi Seripap) is a bright pink building a few blocks from the train station. The rooms are slightly inferior when compared to Nakhon Hotel but for the same price (THB490) they still have air-con, Wi-Fi, Tv, private bathroom with hot shower and a fridge. Lots of simple little restaurants and a night market nearby.

Mid-Range

Moving south closer to Wat Phra Mahathat, Tree Home Plus (5 Soi Pracha Samakkie) is a truly homestay experience, in a nice villa surrounded by a beautiful garden which is a guarantee of a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The guest rooms are large and nicely decorated, and they all come with private toilette (quite a rarity in a homestay), air-con and TV. The owner who lives on site is very talkative and with a lot of advices and recommendations to offer. Guests can use bicycles for free and a pick-up service from the airport is included in the rate which is THB800 for a double room. An abundant Asian breakfast is also included.

Located in the southern part of town not far from the national Museum, the Twin Lotus Hotel (97/8, Si Thammarat, Khlang) is the closest thing to a luxury hotel in town. Despite being quite aged, the building is still appealing and definitely well maintained. The big rooms feature super comfortable beds and are nicely decorated and furnished. An outdoor swimming pool is a great plus, and a Spa available on site will spoil you with a number of different treatments. The breakfast included has a big variety of Asian and Western choices. Rates start at THB1500 for a standard double room and go up to THB3000 for a huge executive suite, possibly the best room you can get in town.
