Places to eat in Hua Hin
One of the excellent things about Hua Hin is that there are vast amounts of eating options offering different dining experiences. These experiences include lively beachside restaurants, upscale dining, street vendors, fast food and much more. You will find a variety of cuisines which cook up authentic Thai dishes, Italian, seafood and many other types.
Street food
We headed to the area around Phetkasem for some cheap authentic Thai meals and this is where the main night market is. The night market starts from 5pm and goes until late and there are many street vendors and carts that have stools so you can sit and eat your food.
We really recommend coming here as you will taste some delicious foods and our favourites were gaeng khiao wan, pad thai and tom kha kai, which never came to more than THB100 per dish.
There are also dedicated seafood carts where you can try a huge range of seafood though if you would like to have a more upscale experience then try the fishing harbour close by but expect to pay a lot more.
The market found at Naeb Kehardt is another great area if you are on a budget and has similar options to those found at the main night market. We recommend trying khao man kai (chicken rice, THB60), tom yam gung (spicy shrimp soup, THB80) and pad krapow moo sap (fried basil, rice and pork, USD60).
Thai food
Even though most of the restaurants around the main tourist area serve pretty low quality food at pretty expensive prices, we still found a few good places to check out. One of the most popular places we found was Saeng Thai Seafood, which has a huge seaside terrace and has a decent sized menu. We enjoyed watching the sun go down whilst swigging on local beers and feasting on our fish and seafood, which included oysters, mussels, mackerel and spicy fish soup.
There are also plenty of good Thai places that sit along the beachfront like Chao Lay Seafood and Let’s Sea which are definitely worth checking out.
There is a huge influx of Thai and Western holidaymakers that head to the area around Soi 51 and this is because there is a good selection of mid range Thai restaurants. Our favourites in this area were You Yen Balcony, which is set in an old house and has many Thai and Chinese meals that include seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes. Another very classy place in the same area is called Baan Rashnee and we were told that it was one of the best restaurants in the city due to their delicious meals and excellent service.
Western and International food
There are many non-Thai restaurants to pick from in the city and one that really stood out for us was Andreas Italian Restaurant found on Soi Mooban Nongkae. This place serves excellent pasta and pizzas as well as fine Italian wine and beers.
Naresdamri Road has many western restaurants dotted along it and ones to have look out for are Orchids and La Paillote for French food, Mamma Mia for Italian, All Seasons for general European foods, Maharaja for Indian and Ye Olde Buffalo Tavern for a British feel. Many other western and non-Thai restaurants are found along the seafront as well as in the centre too.
Cafes and Coffee Houses
The best area for bakeries and coffee shops are found in the Sa Song area and there are many European style places to choose from. Euro Bakery, Hua Hin Bakery and German Bread all have tasty pastries, croissants, sandwiches, cakes, cheeses, meats, breads and much more. However, the most famous in Hua Hin is Khrai Wang on Prachuap Khiri Khan and is known for its extensive range of products and brilliant atmosphere.
