Kittiporn Thepyu-amnuay is the head of the country’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Division. Confirming the suspension of the service late on Saturday, he said the operators of the service had agreed the prevailing weather conditions were too dangerous to set sail in.
The Meteorological Department’s warning also stated that high waves would hit both the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea shorelines. It cautioned the captains of smaller boats to stay ashore and warned those of larger vessels to proceed with caution during the storms.
