Ha Giang to Hanoi Destination Reviews

The driver stopped once early in our trip for a toilet stop and then not again, despite an older man requesting a toilet stop. The bus interior was not particularly clean and looked pretty old.

Booked 2 days in advance, 5h before the trip they informed us that they are overbooked, proposed a less convenient alternative trip later the same day. I declined and kindly asked for my reimbursement…which they still did not make

Seats are super small and claustrophobic compared to over 12 other vip busses I've been on because they do 3 rows but it's the same price as the actual nice vip bus. Bus left on time but we arrived very late due to unnecessary stops and bad driving. Constant honking and unnecessary bumps not taken with caution so no ability to sleep. Mosquitoes in bus biting you the whole time. No wifi like advertised. Overall very unenjoyable experience.

Left Ha Gian with huge delay. The driver stopped multiple times on the way to pick up and drop off multiple random people. Then stopped somewhere in Hanoi and announced 60 minutes break before going to the final destination. It was 6.45, 1 hour 15 minutes late already there. Unbelievable. We left the coach and continued the journey by a taxi.

Hello. I have to tell you, the driver's helper has the worst attitude I have seen in a very long time. Not representing the very nice vietnamese I met everywhere for months. He was the worst. I asked for his name in vietnamese with clear Google traduction and he did not want to answer me. I asked again and insisted and after a pause, he finally said Laazi. (Laaze) When I got on my bus at 11:00 instead of the planned 11:30, because he send me a what app at 7 am to be there before the planned departure, I went to a bed I asked him, how the control worked to change the position of my seat, because there was a electric remote control. He was immediately very rude, shove me off, did not care about me, turned his back to me, everytime and was talking very rudly to me with an attitude. He said "No massage". So I understood the electronic control I had in my hand, was not to raise the seat. Laazi laugh at me talking to the driver, while laughing. I had already looked and did not see any electric button on the wall, like in the only other bus I took before, to raise the head of the bed. So I asked him, How do I raise the head of my seat, acting and making the move to try to explain myself. After many tried, he finally showed me a small. handle, stuck in the mattres, to pull hard that make the head of the bed raise. I said kamoun (thank you) very nicely. Also at 4pm, 2 hours about after our first stop, I translate on google traduction "The electricity in the back is not working since we made the first stop. No light, no power.". I am the second bed. He is sitting in the stair I said sin loy, excuse me in vietnamese. He turn around. I showed him my phone toward him, facing him, to show I wrote something I would like him to read (electricity is not working) But after he clearly saw me, he turn back toward the front of the bus and completly ignored me. I was wondering why. He was on his phone. After 10 more minutes, I said Sin loy, again (excuse me). Laazi turn around, like I was bothering him. He made sign for me to come to him, instead of him coming to me. So I had to get out of the upper bed, to go talk to him 5 feet away instead of him coming 5 feet behing him, since he was already in the hallway, without any luggage. I showed him my phone and the translation "No electricity....". He said something to the driver. That's when I wrote and translate "What is your name?" But he did not answer. The driver has just turn the electrcity back on, and he told me to leave, since I now had electricity back. I asked him is name again. After hesitation, and looking at me deeply in my eyes,he told me Laazi. Why do you have an employee so rude with your customer??? You did not know? This guy is the worst vietnamese I have seen in 4 months. Actually, the only rude vietnamese to me in 4 months. By the way. We left early at 11am. Made a stop at 1:30pm. and then did not stop, for bathroom, for the rest of the 4 hour bus trip. We arrived at the bus stop at 5:00. Waited 15 minutes for the car. Arrived at 156 Tran Quang Khai at 5:454. I don't know if it is normal? That same Laazi, when the bus stop only talked in vietnames to the 3 tourist we were. So I went to him, ask what he said, with google traduction. Did not answer but showed me to take my bag. I wrote him many message on google traduction, and he never answered except saying 10 minutes. Laazi never wanted to use my google traduction or never used his. I finally asked the same question to the driver "Do we change bus? And the driver nicely and nicely answer us. Dave Mackell. 55 years old. 11:30 bus from Ha giang 32 Nguyen Trai Street to Hanoi on april 7th. 12go 29250901 Whatapp +15813085517 I would like to have a follow up. Thank you. I think I had to advice you, to keep a good reputation to your compagny And it is not going to be with that employee. Have a good day.

Had the very last cabin in the back of the bus. At this spot you feel vibrations of the road and of the motor super strong. Plus the cabin was a lot smaller than the last bus we had taken. I was only able to get around 1-2 hours of sleep eventhough I had earplugs. A/C was so strong that even when you closed the vents cold air was still coming through. Not the best when you're having a cold. The bus arrived 1 hour earlier than expected which normally is a good thing. Driving was even harder accordingly and it left us stranded in Hanoi until like 6am when some shops opened.

Note that the travel time is for your reference only and can depend on different factors such as traffic and weather conditions. Travelling by bus essentials

  • If you are planning to travel during the high season, weekends, or national holidays, booking your bus tickets in advance is highly recommended. The demand is at its highest, yet very often, the number of coaches serving the route remains the same. The earlier you reserve your seat, the better. On some routes, you need to secure your ticket more than a month in advance; on others, a couple-of-days advanced booking is enough. During such periods, try to book online beforehand whenever possible, as showing up at the bus station without a ticket may result in many-hours of waiting in the queue or leave you downright stranded.
  • VIP, 1st, Gold, and similar bus tickets are the most expensive option, but they provide a higher level of comfort. Normally the price of such tickets will include wide soft reclining seats, blankets, water and snacks or lunch, and sometimes some toiletries. Upper-class buses travel faster, make fewer stops during the route, and normally provide more spacious seating to their passengers and a better travel experience.
  • Not all buses have an on-board toilet, but generally, for all trips longer than three hours, all operators schedule a bathroom and/or a lunch stop. While operators definitely do their best to keep on-board toilets clean, the smell may be an issue sometimes. For longer trips, booking a seat a bit farther from the toilet may be a good idea. Also, using bathroom stops for your toilet needs is always better than trying to find your balance in an on-board toilet on the run.
  • If you travel by an air-con bus, make sure to pack layers. A hoodie, a warm scarf, or a beanie hat may prove a good idea. Air-conditioning on buses tends to be excessive, and running nose and sore throats abound after even not the longest bus rides.
  • Always use the security belts even if your bus ride attendant or driver does not insist on it. Your safety comes first – for you, for sure. All buses normally are equipped with security belts, but they may be fixed behind your seat. Take time to find the belt and fix it appropriately.
  • To avoid being disturbed by overhead lights, switched on during stops even at night, and too loud music or sound from the on-board entertainment system, have earplugs and a sleeping mask at hand.
  • As a courtesy to other passengers, avoid using strong perfumes or smelly foods. Some foods like cheeses or durians are forbidden to take on-board – check in advance. Alcohol is also prohibited on the majority of buses.
  • Note that if the bus requires refuelling en-route, passengers will be asked to get off the bus. Operators are not allowed to refuel with passengers on board due to safety reasons. Usually, it takes from 5 to 10 minutes and is often combined with a toilet/lunch stop.
  • If not stated otherwise in your tickets, arrive at the bus station 20-30 minutes before departure. It will give you enough time to find the departure platform and check-in. For international trips, you may need more time for check-in and border formalities.
