The train was half an hour late and the beds were not that comfortable, particularly the upper bunk which was smaller. The train is very noisy and the lights stay on all night so you need an eye mask and ear plugs to sleep, though even with these we didn’t sleep very much. There is also limited luggage storage and some people had taken up more than their share, making it trickier. It’s definitely an experience - though not one we’d be desperate to repeat!
Hemos viajado en segunda clase en las camas de arriba. La experiencia muy buena. Lo único es que no apagan las luces del tren en toda la noche, así q es conveniente llevar un antifaz…
From the original booking through to the journey itself, everything was excellent. Perfect communication and an extremely comfortable journey. Lovely to wake up to sunrise above the mountains.
It is an incredible experience, this sanctuary really made the whole trip to Thailand worthwhile. Incredible environment, the elephants are seen to be happy and the people who work there take good care of them.
They gave us food, water, coffee and tea, and everything was exceptional! Each one of the guides is constantly aware of all the tourists and they are more than willing to take photos and help you with whatever you need!
SPECTACULAR ADVENTURE!
Overall this trainride was very confortable. There was enough space in the bed. For a train bed it was also "soft". The only bad thing was that the light was permanently on.
Train was delayed by 10 minutes, but the train staff were helpful - no information on the notice boards.
The train was quiet and clean, everyone was asleep by 10pm with nobody snoring! We felt very lucky, as we got a good sleep in. No train changes and few stops, everyone was lovely onboard, lots of other backpackers.
Exactly what is expected of third class. Left on time, arrived on time. Cheap, but crowded, everybody got a seat but it was almost impossible to sleep due to the lack of space. 12 hours sat upright on hard seats becomes painful, and missing a night of sleep takes it’s toll.
