The ferry was great and easy to get to the pier, however when booking it said it was straight to Sihanoukville but it actually stopped multiple times at two ports on koh rong, so we didn't reach the destination until an hour after the quoted arrival time, just be aware not to make any connections too close to the quoted arrival time.
Obviously no ticketed seats and a free for all but the luggage was all lifted by the staff with ease and generally we found them to be on time and efficient. Made holiday easy
The jetty’s don’t have hand rails or ropes to help travellers embark and disembark the boats. This I think is poor. Something to hold gives people reassurance when clambering over the side of various sized boats onto the stepped sides of the quay.
Ticket issued by 12Go was for a 0905 departure, hotel said they didn’t think this was right, should be 0845 so I went to the dock early only to see the boat pulling away at 0835-40. The hotel was able to relay a message to the boat that returned to pick me up after another stop on the island, was very grateful for that. The ticket error may have be on 12Go.
Fast boat service. The trip took a bit longer than scheduled because we also stopped to pick up passengers from Mpai Bay.
The sea was quite rough, but that’s not something anyone can really control. The boat was fast and handled the conditions reasonably well.
Overall, a decent experience and pretty normal for ferry services in Asia.
