Phetchabun Hotels. Guesthouses and Resorts
Once you arrive in Phetchabun, the best place to start searching for accommodation is around Phra Phutthabat Rd, the main road running through Phetchabun from south to north parallel to highway 21. A number of cheap guesthouses offering simple rooms with a fan and private bathroom are available. Don’t expect too much in terms of furnishing and style, but the rooms are generally clean and the staff are quite friendly and accommodating even if they normally don’t speak English. Expect to pay from THB250 for the cheapest options. Note that such places do not offer online booking, and the only way to find them is to shop around.
Budget
Budget guesthouses offer more or less the similar value. As an idea, check out Sawasdee Bungalows (54 Sunkoo Muang Road, just off Phra Phutthabat in the west) which is within walking distance from the city centre and has the advantage of offering hot water shower – you will especially appreciate it during those cold nights in January.
There is no classic backpacker style accommodation in town, mainly because few backpackers choose to travel to Phetchabun and also because prices are so low that with the same money you would spend for a bed in a decent dorm everywhere else in Thailand, here you can have a private room with attached toilette.
Mid-Range
Slightly more expensive than the majority of guesthouses in Phetchabun The One Phetchabun Hotel (45/4 Klangmuangpattana) offers an incredible value for money. The hotel has nice rooms with air-cons, flat screen TVs, private bathrooms, mini fridges and Wi-Fi starting at just THB350. For THB100 more you can have a bigger room with an extra bed ideal for a family with a kid. They have free parking for guests if you’re travelling by car and some of the staff speak some basic English. The location is perfect, close to everything with the bus station only 5 minutes away.
Located a few hundred meters further on highway 21, The De Hotel (3/52 Pechabura Alley) sells some of the best rooms you can have in town for just THB500. Nicely decorated and furnished, with super comfortable beds, they all come with an air-con, Wi-Fi, flat screen TV and a modern bathroom with a designer window facing your own room; if like us you don’t appreciate such designer finds, you can simply close the curtains and have some more privacy. As a bonus, this is the only hotel in town that comes with a gym, which is quite old and not perfectly maintained, but for THB500 nobody will complain. The location is still good, and it’s possible to walk to the city centre in 15 minutes.
Top End
West of Phetchabun town there’s a great choice of accommodation options both in the north close to Wat Pha Sorn Kaew and in the south down along the road leading to Khao Kho Natural Park](/en/thailand/phetchabun/tours). The majority of the options are in the mid-budget range (THB400-THB1000) and there are some luxury resorts where the beauty of the nature around you will make you forget the extra baht that you have to pay for it.
A perfect example is the Blue Sky Resort (6 Moo 5, Campson, 67280 Khao Kho), a 5 star resort located on top of a hill along route 12, just 5 km prior reaching Wat Pha Sorn Kaew. The rooms are excellent and all with different designs, but the highlight of the place is the perfect scenery. Just sitting in the garden and looking at the mountains is a pleasure, and breakfast with some of the home baked products makes it fantastic. Obviously a room doesn’t come too cheap (starting at THB3500) but during rainy season you can find great deals (even at half the price) on all the major online booking sites.
