Koh Lipe Hotels, Guesthouses and Resorts

Wherever you’ll stay on Koh Lipe you’ll be a walking distance from everything. The two main areas to search for the best accommodation options are Pattaya Beach and Sunrise Beach.

Remember that Pattaya beach can be a bit noisy at night until 1am but if you want to hang out for a few drinks this is where we would recommend you to stay. Sunrise beachis more suitable for people looking for peace and tranquillity, but still within an easy reach to all the restaurants and shops of Walking Street.

The only reason to consider accommodation in Walking Street is if you’re really on a shoe string. In such a case check Shanti Hostel (Walking Street, half way between Pattaya and Sunrise, closed in low season), where you can have a bed in an air-con dorm for THB450. This is probably the cheapest option you have on the island, but if you can afford to pay a bit more we highly recommend searching for your accommodation on one of the beaches.

Pattaya Beaches

Just a hundred meters west of Walking Street you will find Green View Beach Resort (closed in low season). They offer a scattering of a few eco-friendly bamboo bungalows in the jungle but nonetheless equipped with all the amenities necessary for a perfect holiday including comfortable beds, mosquito nets, spacious toilets and quite powerful fans. Plus it’s one of the few affordable places with a (small) stretch of private beach. There are no bungalows with air-con but, unless you really can’t live without it, the breeze coming from the sea at night and the fan will guarantee comfortable sleep anyway. The bungalows in the back will keep you away from the noise coming from Pattaya beach. Bungalows start from THB1000, more in the peak season.

For something slightly cheaper and opened all year round, head to the central part of the beach where you’ll find Café Lipe, one of the first resort on the island. They have a few very basic bungalows with nothing more than just a bed, a mosquito net, a fan and a nice veranda with a hammock to chill out during the hottest part of the day. Rates start from THB600 (low season).

Sunrise Beach

If you need a touch of ‘’luxury’’ but still want to be on the cheaper side, Captain Yut’s Bungalows (in the middle of Sunrise Beach, open all year) have you covered. Each unit is different and they may look rustic and basic from outside, but inside they’re beautifully furnished and decorated by captain Yut, the owner of the resort and the funniest character you’ll meet on the island. If you’re after jazz music and can play any musical instrument, then join him at the bar for a sunset jam session. Rates start at THB2000 out of the peak season.

For a simple, no-frills bamboo bungalows on Sunrise beach, try Gipsy Resort (just left of Captain Yut’s, open only in high season). Pretty basic, with just a fan and a mosquito net and only cold shower, some of them boast a fantastic location right on the beach. They also have family room in the new concrete section that can host up to 4 people. Prices start from THB900 for the rustic bungalows.

For an up-scale options and definitely for honeymooners, in the southern end of the beach you’ll find Serendipity Beach Resort, where a few private wooden villas (some of them with private pools) overlook the best part of Sunrise Beach. You’ll find all the comforts expected from a resort of this level, included an amazing on-site SPA. Prices start from THB6000 in low season.
