Thailand Offers Online E-Visas for Nations Under VOA Fee Waiver

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) informs travellers who are entitled for visa-on-arrival to Thailand that while the Royal Thai Government’s visa-on-arrival fee waiver scheme has effect it is possible to apply for a Thailand e-visa online to skip the queues on the arrival.

Earlier Thailand extended visa-on-arrival fee waiver introduced in November 2018 till the end of April 2020. The visa-on-arrival fee waiver entitles citizens of 18 nations to obtain their Thai VOA free of charge. The nations on the fee waiver list include Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Malta, Mexico, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Uzbekistan and Vanuatu. Before the scheme was implied, the fee for VOA was THB2,000 for a single-entry to Thailand with tourism purposes for a period not exceeding 15 days.

E-visas are issued via two official websites thailandevisa.org and thailandevoa.vfsevisa.com.
E-visas are accepted at Thailand's four major airports: Bangkoks' Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, as well as Phuket and Chiang Mai International Airports.

While e-visas are free fo charge, applicants will need to pay the processing fees: THB600 for a standard approval process within 24-72 hours ot THB2,500 for an urgent approval within 24 hours. To apply for an e-visa, the applicants will be required to pay the processing fee and upload copies of their travel documents. The approved e-visa should be then downloaded to be later produced at the entry point.
