Vintage cars line up for Hua Hin rally

The organisers of the annual Bangkok to Hua Hin vintage car rally have confirmed that this year’s event will run according to schedule. The rally sees upwards of 60 vintage cars make the 225km journey from the Thai capital city south to the Gulf of Thailand seaside resort.

Classic Alfa Romeos, Mercedes and MGs are among the vehicles that usually take part in the rally. Two of the regular entrants are a 1950s era Porsche and a stunning fire-engine-red E-Type Jaguar.

The 12th rally is set to take place between 12 and 14 December 2014. The sight of vehicles from yesteryear travelling on the coastal route has proved a major draw over the past few years and attracts spectators galore.

The Sheraton Hua Hin Resort is the mid-point of the rally and the vintage vehicles will be on display here. Manager Sitthirat Hothongkam said the resort was honoured to be playing an integral role in hosting such a prestigious rally.

Mr Hothongkam continued by saying the general public was welcome to visit and take a look at these fine old cars while they were on the forecourt. Spectators in recent years have said the Thai rally is reminiscent of the UK’s famous London to Brighton Rally.
