The second route from Taipei to the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai will follow three weeks later on 7 January 2015. V Air says it will serve the two routes with 194-seat Airbus A321 aircraft. All seats are economy only.
The launch of the flights is still awaiting approval by the Thai civil aviation authorities. Once they have the green light, V Air’s management says it will publish more information about flight departure and arrival times.
An insider close to the management team says a preliminary schedule will see the outbound flight for Bangkok leave Taipei in the morning and arrive back in the afternoon. The Taipei-Chiang Mai service will leave some time in the afternoon and land back in Taipei around midnight.
V Air is the budget offshoot of scheduled Taiwanese carrier TransAsia Airways. It currently only has the one A321, but has placed orders for several more aircraft. The extra aircraft will allow it to expand its network and services from Taipei to South Korea and Japan are said to be next on the agenda.
