Where to Shop and Dine Wirldwide: Best Cities Revealed

The new MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index: Indulgences that analyses tourists spending patterns in different cities around the world, unveiled the best destination for dining and shopping. In Asia, Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur are on the list.

Top–10 of global cities for dining contains world-wide destinations where people generally spend more on dining – either because of higher prices or beacuse of the higher number of visitors eating out. The list is topped by Dubai, while Bangkok comes the third, Tokyo – the 8th, and Singapore closes the ranking.

Best cities for shopping are the cities where visitors spend big – be it clothes or souvenirs. Rather unsurprisingly, Dubai leads the race again. The list features five Asian destinations, too, with Tokyo in Japan on the forth line, followed by Singapore, Bangkok in Thailand, and Seoul in South Korea. Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia occupies the 9th place.

A couple of months ago, the Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index that analyses 162 cities of the world ranking them in accordance with the number of international overnight visitors, named Bangkok as number 1 destination with 20.05 million travellers per year; other Asian cities on the list included Singapore (5), Kuala Lumpur (7), Tokyo (8), Seoul (10), Phuket (12), Hong Kong (14), Pattaya (18), Osaka (19), and Bali (20).
