Northern and Northeastern Provinces of Thailand Are Ready for Cool Season

As temperatures in the northern and northeastern provinces of Thailand are falling down, tourists are flocking to the mountainous destinations to catch some fresh air.

In the northeast, Loei province remains one of the most popular destinations with Phu Ruea leading the race. The 'Swtizerloei' ceremony was held during the last weekend ushing the new season in. 

Nong Khai, on the border with Laos, continues to attract tourists with sea of mist viewpoints at its best during the rainy season. The main draw for meeting the dawn is undoubtedly Wat Pa Tak Sua.

Khai Yai National park is refreshingly cool now – temperatures have dropped to 20 degrees Celcius attracting camping enthusiasts.

Buriram, often overlooked by foreign travellers, has a new attraction on offer – Huay Chorokae reservoir complete with a viewing tower and accommodation options. Not to be missed out is Phanom Rung area with its historial park and amazing Khmer temples in the vicinity.

Nan, sometimes referred to as 'mini Chiang Mai' experiences an upsurge of visitors touring the famous temples of the city, Wat Bhumin in the first turn, and outflang attractions like Bo Kluea salt pools.
