As the Administration of Yangon Airways, domestic carrier of Myanmar, reported, over two years the airline plans to expand to Thailand, Singapore and China. Up to 2017 year Yangon Airways will launch its first regional flights to Chiang Mai and Phuket (Thailand), Kunming (China) and Singapore as the most perspective tourist destinations in Southeast Asia. Bangkok is not included in the company's plans as too popular and competitive destination.

Primarily, Yangon Airways looks forward to working with tour operators, as the experience of other carriers of Myanmar such as Asian Wings Airways, showed that regional flights for business and individual travelers are not profitable.
