Bangkok Airways to Link Phuket and Yangon in November

Thailand' first boutique airline, Bangkok Airways, are planning to launch direct flights between Phuket International Airport and Yangon International Airport starting from November, 17 this year.

Though Myanmar National Airlines, the state owned Burmese airline, already plies the same route with their first Yangon-Phuket flight perfomed in April 2018, passenger traffic is constantly increasing and there is demand for more seats.

Currently both business and tourist sectors in Myanmar are showing a steady growth resulting in the rise of international visitors' arrivals. A considerable number of Thai national companies and Burmese companies have started collaboration and the tourist potential of Myanmar is high; more foreign tourists are choosing to visit the country year after year, with many of them travelling to Myanmar via Bangkok.

Bangkok Airways already operate a number of direct Thailand–Myanmar air routes, linking Bangkok to Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw and Chiang Mai to Yangon. The representatives of the airline say that they are planning to add some minor airports in Myanmar to their itinerary, too, but would not reveal the details at the moment.
