The new wharf will be located close to Ramkhamhaeng Station. The station is a stop for Airport Rail Link trains running between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Phaya Thai. There is also a station here for State Railway of Thailand trains from Bangkok travelling east towards locations such as Pattaya and Aranyaprathet.
Ramkhamhaeng Station is adjacent to Saen Saep Canal (Khlong Saen Saep in Thai). Passenger boats on the canal run west into central Bangkok. The terminus is at Panfa Leelard Pier and from here it is no more than 10 minutes’ walk to Khao San Road or Democracy Monument.
Boats on the canal run at 20 minute intervals and require a change at Pratunam to go all the way through to Panfa Leelard. Eastbound canal boats travel as far as Bangkapi and the Mall Bangkapi. The new pier is all part of the Transport Ministry’s master-plan to integrate public transport services in the capital city.
