Thanh Buoi Ticket Prices & Bus Classes
One of the best things about bus travel is that you can almost tailor-make your trip adjusting it to your requirements for privacy and comfort. Different classes and types of buses cater to the different needs of travellers. The cheapest trips are normally offered by standard-class buses. They may be called local, express or ordinary. These are a good choice for shorter trips. Sleepers or VIP coaches are good both for longer and overnight trips. They may offer berths or wide soft reclining seats, sometimes with built-in massage options, blankets, soft drinks, and snacks, or more substantial meals on board or during toilet or refuelling stops. Travelling by night buses allows you to save on a hotel room, but to ensure the most comfortable ride do choose the class of your bus wisely. Prices always depend on the distance you ride and the type of coach. For some, even shorter trips, it is worth investing some extra money and buying a seat on a VIP bus as it can save you twice as much time as you spend travelling by an ordinary bus.

Pros of Bus Travel
- Bus is the best choice to get to destinations that are not connected by rail or planes. The network of buses often covers almost the whole country, and their routes are well and long-established.
- Opposite to air travel and sometimes rail travel, taking a bus does not require arriving at the bus station much in advance. Check-in, even on international routes, does not take much time. Luggage allowances are usually very traveller-friendly, and the fee for extra luggage, if limits are set, is normally not very high.
- Bus tickets can be more affordable compared to air or fast train tickets. There is always a choice of ticket classes for all pockets. Cheaper standard options may be a bit slow and do not offer top comfort, but anyway acceptable and bring you to your destination. On longer routes, toilets or toilet stops as well as snacks, water, and sometimes toiletries and blankets are almost always included in the price.
- If you are ready to spend more, some VIP coaches offer seating comparable to business class on a plane with wide soft reclining seats, blankets, fewer passengers, and many other perks to make your trip a pleasant journey.
Cons of Bus Travel
- Newer intercity bus terminals are very often located out of the city close to bigger highways to allow buses to avoid city congestion. Unfortunately, it may create extra challenges for travellers, too. Getting to such a terminal may be a problem as in some destinations there are restrictions on vehicles allowed to enter the terminal, and you will have to use special carriers to get there. This results in higher costs as prices may be inflated. Also do calculate extra time if you are travelling during rush hours, especially if you are not familiar with the traffic situation at your starting point.
- Buses are probably the means of transport which runs out of schedule more often than trains or planes. They are heavily dependent on the road situation which sometimes can be unpredictable – accidents, road construction works, detours, etc. This is especially true for travels during weekends, high season, or national holidays. Do keep this in mind and do not plan tight connections.
- Travelling on certain routes or during the most popular periods may require advanced booking. Bear in mind that it is not always possible to show up at the bus station and hop on the next bus – tickets may well be all sold out, so organize your trip accordingly.

Also I was scammed by a motorbike driver after I arrived Long Phuong Phnom Penh. That's a different topic but still occurred.

Mathilde RDeparture on time. First transfer in a big bus then switched to a sleeping bus. The driver didn’t speak English but helped us understand we needed to change the bus.
The second bus was comfy and on time as well. We even arrived earlier than expected. Perfect!

Christophe RYou actually take 2 buses. The first one, you are really really packed in a very very tiny space. Nothing like other night buses. You can't move or sit,; it is more like a coffin. Very long journey. The second bus is a traditional bus. Comfortable. The whole journey was much longer than described. Nearly 10 hours.

Qurrotul AThe bus schedule was on time. So you have to go to bus office to get physical ticket. And then 15 minutes before actual departure you will get on the shuttle to the actual sleeper bus. So make sure you’ll be on time. The bed was a bit smaller with curtain but it’s enough for 7 hours trip to Da Lat. They don’t have toilet in the bus but make stop in the rest area. Unfortunately the information doesn’t provide in English, it’s confusing. So if you need anything, just ask the driver or bus agent. They will help you.

Thomas GBus was on time leaving (but unhelpfully said to arrive 75 mins early so lots of unnecessary waiting) beds were comfortable for my partner, but not really wide enough for my shoulders so a bit uncomfortable, in the middle aisle I also had people knocking into me through the curtain waking me up every time I got to sleep. Overall though got to the destination on time so not bad.

Sari IThe counter staff was helpful, but the boarding staff didn’t guide us the right way (probably lack of English?). 5 minutes after departure time we were still there waiting. Good that I went back to the counter staff, who then directed us to the bus, which was waiting for us! The ride was good, we arrived on time if not early. The seat was small, enough for a 5’ 2” like me but maybe not for those who are bigger.

Bronte ABus from Saigon to Da Lat. was scheduled to take 7 hours but took 8 - however since all other buses were 8 hours we were expecting this. Free shuttle to your hotel on arrival from the bus company - excellent service to offer. Sleeper bus had slim seats, would book with caution if you have a significantly wider build compared to Vietnamese people. Regular stops every 2 hours for toilet and food. Water provided. Would book again.

Aino IAll in all everything was ok. Seat is very narrow and doesn’t have much space for legs either so I think it’s not suitable for very tall or bigger people. Theres no space for a purse/small backbag/etc so I had mine on my lap, between my legs and behind the seat which meant I could’t get chair fully laying back position but it was ok (I had too much stuff with me anyway). Road felt kinda curvy and sometimes rocky so if you get easily nauseous during traveling it might be a bad one. I was not sure if there was a toilet inside the bus, but it stopped two times while you had a chance to use a toilet/get up. Bus left little bit late but it was informed. Staff was friendly and helpful at the bus station and after all ride to Da Lat took less than I expected.

This was my fault as 12go stated arrive 30 minutes early as first bus is a transit bus which takes you to the sleeper or cabin bus
I arrived 20 minutes early! Had I arrived 30 minutes early, I would still have missed the transit bus! The lady in the bus office told me I should have been there 1 hour before!
12go should clearly state the transit bus is the actual start time of the journey & arrive 1 hour before.

Emily AStaff were generally helpful despite our language barrier and bus was clean and well maintained. Personally found bed a bit uncomfortable but that’s because I sleep on my side so style of bed wasn’t ideal - think this is the same as most sleeper buses though - and blanket, pillows and bottled water all provided. We made 2 stops for toilet in 6 hours and bus driver pointed toilets out on both occasions. Bus departed late but arrived ahead of schedule and staff came and got us personally when bus arrived for pick up as they were aware we didn’t understand the Vietnamese announcements in bus station. Overall, very impressed.

Mirjamt4 The bus was clean and the service was kind. Unfortunately there were no blankets which I missed as the bus airco can get real cold. The service came by with the possibility of snacks which was great.There was a pendle bus to Le Hong Phong without any costs. I tried contacting the operator for some additional information but there was no response.

Sally SYou do need to get to the office 75 minutes before as there is a shuttle bus to the sleeper bus. The bus left on time and arrived 10 mins ahead of schedule. It was clean, tight in the corridors and the beds were skinny but comfortable for a day trip (not sure how I would sleep in them). Staff were really helpful, they spoke English at the office and Google translate helps when on board! 2 x stops - one a 5 min bathroom break and then a 30 min lunch break. Would def recommend but it is close quarters!

I had already organised a taxi to pick me up and this had completely ruined my plans and wasted over an hour of my time. Hnin PThey assigned me an upper bed in the middle row even though a window bed on the left side was available.
It was not the worst trip, but 3 hours into the trip, the AC was turned off.
The driver was really nice, when I requested a random toilet, he stopped the car for me which I am extremely grateful for.
The bus stopped two times for bathroom breaks, but stopped multiple times to drop some people off.
1 hr before arriving, they had this loud music on which I don't understand why.
Anyway, wasn't the worst thing, would probably do it again if I had to.

The information on the voucher was incorrect about arriving an hour early. We left on time on another bus to catch the sleeper just five minutes later…
The service was top-notch and they actually cared to help.
The bus was super clean and comfy. I remember the driver on the overhead system a lot for an overnight trip.
I would and did book this service provider again.

Julie LIt was ok, but difficult with communication of what's going on. I don't particularly like the honking of the horn constantly. As it's a sleeper bus I expect to be able to rest. Apart from that it was fine.

Maddie Overall, bus is very clean and comfortable, a blanket and long bed cushion is provided. Bus has curtains, changeable air-conditioning vents so the temperature is stable. However the bus leaves very quickly when it departs and when arriving at the destination, the luggage is unloaded very quickly and you need to get off the bus very quickly. Can be disorientating. You will need to remove your shoes prior to boarding and given a plastic bag to put them in. Of course if you speak/understand Vietnamese you will know when the bus is stopping for rest rooms/and arriving to get off.

Eleanor HVery easy to find in Ho Chi Minh, they put us on a transfer to the sleeper bus (which was basically empty so we just chose our seats!), we stopped a few times for rest breaks, then they organised us a transfer to our hostel in Dalat.
