About Angel Billabong

While some islands are now reachable by plane or are connected to the mainland with a bridge, ferries remain the only way to reach some of the most beautiful and amazing islands, hidden beaches, or other seaside destinations. Larger and slower car ferries carry vehicles and passengers around the world, but in certain cases, you will need to opt for a smaller yet faster express high speedboat or catamaran to reach your destination. While the latter does save you time, caution should be taken if you are prone to seasickness. When the sea is, rough high-speed boats which actually cut the waves are a better option than catamarans that ride the waves instead hence turning your journey into a rock-and-roll trip. To prevent or beat motion sickness, we recommend taking a special medication – consult your doctor prior to the journey. While on board, grab a seat on an open-air deck wherever possible.

Ferry trips offered by Angel Billabong can be booked online – in an easy and hassle-free manner, without wasting your time visiting the booking office.

Angel Billabong Ferry Types & Tickets Prices

High-speed fast ferries always hit the hardest on your pocket. If you need to save money, check whether some slower options are available on your route – usually the rates are much more affordable. It is a rule of thumb to check the length of the trip before booking. On longer routes, the difference in travel time can be huge. Note that not all ticket fares or classes are always available on any route. During peak seasons it is a good idea to make your booking in advance as the availability of more expensive private cabins is often limited. Opting for walk-in tickets on the most popular routes during these periods can result in long waiting queues. Some destinations have more than one pier or different piers for different ferry companies hence goes the recommendation to check the pier you leave from/dock at before your trip. Leave enough time before the departure to find your boat and check in. These procedures may take up to a couple of hours on international routes. Last but not least, some piers impose their own ‘pier fee’ on all arriving passengers. This fee is normally not included in your ticket price – keep this in mind.

Travel by Ferry: Pros & Cons

Pros of Ferry Travel

  • Taking a ship allows you to get to some of the islands, beaches, or seaside destinations which otherwise cannot be reached. While ferry travels can be time-consuming and sometimes make you suffer from sea sickness, the possibility of visiting the most paradise, secret, off-the-beaten-track destinations they bring you to usually compensates.
  • Ferry tickets can be booked online. It saves you time and secures your travel itinerary goes as planned. The advanced booking option is especially convenient when travelling during peak season periods, national holidays, or long weekends when there is high demand for tickets and on routes served by a limited number of vessels.
  • On some routes, you are able to choose the class of the ticket or cabin. There are private compartments or standard cabins with a number of extras included or not. Always check the conditions of your fare to take most of your trip.
  • Ferry travel is always fun. It allows you to see the places you visit or just pass by from a different angle. The majority of places look terrific – and totally different! – when viewed from the water. Sailing provides a great opportunity to shoot nice and unique pics and videos – do jump at it!

Cons of Ferry Travel

  • The major concern while travelling by water is motion sickness, which is a very annoying and unpleasant thing. Even if you have never experienced it before, there is no guarantee that the next ferry trip will run smoothly as well. Rough seas and speedboat journeys can make even the strongest stomachs beg for mercy. Follow our recommendations above and take your medicine half an hour prior to your trip. Taking a light meal before travel also helps – more chances to get seasick with an empty stomach.
  • Delays and cancellations are common for ferry trips as they highly depend on weather and sea conditions. It especially concerns travel during shoulder months or off-season. Rains, mossy seas, and stormy weather may interfere with your travel itinerary – try to keep it flexible and do not plan tight flight connections even during the ‘usually-good-weather’ season.

Easy to book, easy to board and a clean, air conditioned space to wait in. We booked for the 2:15pm slot which boarded 10 minutes late, but still made it to Nusa Peninda before 4pm.

Pier was damaged so we were shuttled to the “cruise” in a tiny boat. It had to make 4 trips to load all passengers. Arrived 30 minutes late. No aircon on the boat. Only good thing was that the boat sailed nice and calmly

We had to climb down rocks to get into the boat, they helped me with my backpack. The ride was good. We arrived only 15 minutes later than they said because we left a little late.

If you don't want to ride these boats, you should probably just leave Bali. This is the ultimate experience. Showing up early only to have a late departure. Tiny and cramped seats. It's the works! But that's why we love Bali and everyone's happy attitude. It's what I've come to expect from Bali and I love it. If you don't like it or can't accept it, please leave the island.

Billabong has a great service but the boat is quite old. Departure from Sanur is more folkloric as you have to walk through water. Seeing the number of boats travelling every day they should consider building a kind of wooden bridge or other like in Sampalan Beach. Also 30 min is more 45-50

We drove from Nusa Penida to Sanur. Was well organized and everything worked out. The exit was not directly at the jetty you had to go through the water. But we had read before in some reviews and was not tragic for us.

Way to the island was overcrowded and very hot. The boat was too late and it took 1,5h from A to B. People were puking but didn't have bags and the temperature was too high, no ventilation The way back was good. Went faster and boat was on time. Still too hot and no ventilation

Left on time, journey took 20mins longer than the 30mins advertised. Be aware you have to walk though water on the way out of sanur (no pier)

The boat that was supposed to take us was overcrowded. The number of passengers was exceeded beyond all measure, so we should get on another boat of the company. The boat then left with a delay of about 25 minutes later. The jetty was then a new one and we had to get into the water to go ashore. For that, the employees carried all the suitcases ashore, thanks for that.

After I bought the tickets online, your company (sent an email) stated the tickets would still need the confirmation of the operator and that will take 24hours and more. I bought the ticket more 2 days earlier and yet on the day of my ferry, l never received your company confirmation email. That created unnecessary stresses.

le barche fanno facilmente ritardo, al ritorno abbiamo finito la benzina e abbiamo dovuto aspettare in mezzo al mare in balia delle onde che arrivasse un rifornimento, per il resto tutto bene, check in rapido, così come l'imbarco

The boat departed on time (even a little bit earlier than scheduled). The trip leaving in the early morning was good because the ocean was not rough. The only part of the trip that is not really pleasant is when you arrive at Sanur Port. The boat has to navigate slowly to go over shallow waters and it moves a lot. If you're easily seasick, make sure you take some pills to avoid drowsiness. Several people were vomiting (in their respective bags) at this point. Also, in Sanur Port there is no pier; the boat parks backward facing the shore, and you have to get off the boat in the water and you will get your legs wet up to your knee. This is not a deal breaker for me, but I think it's worth mentioning :)

Well organized. Departure just 10 minutes after schedule. Be aware that you access the boat by walking into the sea, with water up to your knees. No jetties.

The operator cancel the boat and 12go change us for another company to go to Nusa lembongan first at 17h and after to Nusa Penida and we were ok with that. We arrived to the new company and they didn't know anything about this change, I had to send an email to 12go to say what was happening. At the end they told me I will be travelling with another company and at 16h we had to run to arrive to the boat. Everything was very crazy...

The boat was super busy, there were too many people for the number of seats. The ferry was late leaving Sanur. We arrived in Penida about 45minutes later than scheduled. Voucher from 12GO was perfect.

Our boat was canceled without any notice. Using 12Go Asia for this trip was a MISTAKE. We arrived at the pier and they said no boat today. Luckily a local helped us rebook with a different company. There should be some kind of notification system in place.
