Wuhan China – 12 Hostels, Hotels and Resorts in All Price Ranges

In Wuhan there are over 2500 hotels of all ratings to ensure there is somewhere to stay that suits all budgets. It is a very large city so care should be taken on choosing the hotel that is right for you and close to where you need to be whether that is for business or travel purposes.

Budget Accommodation

There is no specific area within the city that is solely for one type of accommodation as they all tend to be situated in different areas of the city. Some budget accommodation is only available to Chinese residents, this is not a form of prejudice simply that they are not licensed to receive foreign guests.

1. Bingo Hostel

There are only two western style hostels we would recommend in Wuhan, the Bingo Hostel has recently been refurbished and is located in what was once part of the city Arsenal and is now studios for art, design and photography. They have 20 rooms that range from mixed dorm rooms to single or double private rooms. Meals are available in their restaurant but not included in the room prices.

Beds in the mixed dorm are available from CNY46 per night up to CNY228 for a superior quality private double or twin room. Private rooms are all en-suite, in the dorm rooms you will have to share the room with up to six people, including sharing the bathroom/washroom facilities. The hostel is in the Hanyang Culture Zone on North Gugintaigui Road.

2. Pathfinder Hostel

The Pathfinder Hostel is in Wuchang and I would not recommend it, it is generally unclean, the shared bathroom is on an attachment to the building and I stayed here for one night when I had to be at the train station first thing the next morning. It used to be listed on Hostelbookers and Hostelworld but both companies no longer include it on their website.

3. Qiaohe Hostel

The Qiaohe Hostel is in Hankou and is just a few minutes walk from the Jiangshan Road metro station and nearby shopping mall and Food Street. It is a very good hostel, comfortable, clean with English speaking staff and dorm beds are available from CNY68.

4. Green Tree Inn

The Green Tree Inn is a business hotel located 800 metres north of Wuchang Railway Station at the junction of East Ziyang Road and Meiyuan Road. It has basic twin rooms available for CNY142 per night with free internet usage. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the rooms and free toiletries in the en suite bathroom. It is very conveniently placed for the train station and metro. The Yellow Crane Tower and other nearby attractions are within walking distance.

5. Red Dragon Hostel

The Red Dragon Hostel located in the residential area of Hongda Lane, Hongshan district in Wuhan is actually a series of apartments where you rent and individual bed or room. You have to share the bathroom but otherwise are staying in an apartment so it does not feel like you are in a hotel. It costs from CNY125 per night and the hostel offers a shuttle service from the international airport.

Mid-Range Hotel Accommodation

The price of mid-range hotels in Wuhan offers some tremendous deals especially out of season.

6. Westin Hotel

The Westin Hotel located on Linjiang Road in Wuchang is available from CNY524 per night for a twin bedded room with free Wi-Fi, it has three restaurants within the hotel as well as a spa. It is an ideal location for families and is rated very highly in reviews by guests that have stayed there previously. When booking ask for a room with a view of the nearby Yangtze River, from the 22nd storey it truly is a magnificent view.

7. Zhao Rui International Hotel

The Zhao Rui International Hotel on Gaoxiong Road Hankou is listed as a five star hotel yet they have rooms available from just CNY264 per night. It has a restaurant, an arcade games room and is close to several local attractions with some including Zhongshan Park within walking distance.

8. Wuhan Sentai Zhongyang Hotel

The Wuhan Sentai Zhongyang Hotel on Jiefang Road in Wuchang is a 3.5 star hotel and costs just CNY230 per night including breakfast for two people in a twin bed room. It is close to the Yellow Crane Tower and two of the city’s ten museums.

9. Citadines Zhuankou Wuhan

Citadines Zhuankou Wuhan is a four star apartment hotel on Dongfeng Avenue in Wuhan’s Business Development Zone. It is priced at CNY363 per night but can be available for just CNY282. It includes a free breakfast, a gym and a swimming pool. This hotel is unusual in China in that it is a non smoking hotel. It is not in the city centre but there is a shopping mall just a few minutes’ walk away and a metro station to travel into the city centre. At this hotel the front of house staff are friendly, helpful and speak a little English.

10. New Beacon International

The New Beacon International in Wuhan is a 3.5 star hotel on the intersection of Xinhua Road and Jianghan Road giving the hotel a good central location and good value at CNY353 per night. The restaurant is typically Chinese and while the dinner menu is good, the Chinese style breakfast does not usually satisfy western guests. What was unusual about this hotel is in the gym hidden amongst the treadmills, bikes and fitness machines was a game of table football, it was an enjoyable time battling against an opponent playing this game. When booking ask for a room at the back of the hotel, these are the best rooms and away from the overnight noises from the surrounding area.

Luxury Hotel Accommodation in Wuhan

If you really want to splash out and go for the most expensive luxurious hotel rooms in Wuhan it may be cheaper than you thought. You can get some really good deals on some of Wuhan’s best hotel rooms if you go out of season or just by shopping around and buying online.

11. Juejiang Tianshi Apartment Hotel

The best rated hotels in Wuhan are no higher than 5 stars and the Juejiang Tianshi Apartment Hotel at the Han Street Wanda Plaza has some amazing offers should you book at the right time of year. Their top of the range guestroom apartment with a view from the bay window patio and queen sized bed normally costs CNY1738 per night including unlimited free Wi-Fi and is available in the off season for just CNY433. All the reviews for this hotel give a very high rating with 4.9 out of 5 and a 95% overall recommendation, it is very clean and the food is excellent.

12. Marco Polo Hotel

The Marco Polo Hotel in Wuhan costs from CNY624 per night for a twin or double room and is located on Yanjiang Avenue and close to the Dazhilu metro station on lines 1 and 6. It is close to the bank of the Yangtze River and all rooms have the latest in state of the art audio visual systems. The Marco Polo restaurant has an international buffet and a la carte menu. The Cantonese style menu is on offer in the Chinese restaurant, and after eating you can use the Jacuzzi, fitness centre or swimming pool. The VIP Deluxe Villa Suite is available for CNY3988 per night less tax.
