Dubrovnik to Tivat Destination Reviews

The bus was on time. It will be better if people are informed there are a few stops on the way.

The posted times didn't include any time for a border crossing which took us over an hour, making me late for a meeting at my destination.

1. The bus was overbooked and 10 people travelled standing. 2. The bus arrived to the destination 2 hours later the scheduled.

Disappointed to see another delay without any updates or explanation. It’s frustrating when people r. The views. Travel time was nearly six hours instead of the scheduled two • No communication or explanation for the delay Please improve basic service standards and keep passengers informed — reliability and transparency matter.”.

Request for Refund Due to Delay of Bus Arrival. We were scheduled to arrive at our destination at 22:50, but unfortunately, the bus did not arrive until 00:00. Due to this delay, we missed our local bus connection, which had already stopped operating by that time. As a result, we were forced to take a taxi, which caused us additional expenses and inconvenience. We kindly request a refund for this trip, as the significant delay directly impacted our travel plans and caused us to incur unexpected costs.

The bus driver was unable to communicate a problem that he had but should not have been a problem. Driver was a good and safe driver. Was punctual and bus was clean and comfortable. HOWEVER PLEASE DO NOT SELL ONLINE TICKETS TO BE TOLD BY THE DRIVER I MUST HAVE A PAPER TICKET! And his English was very poor which only really mattered as his only two words were PRINT and PAPER. When I asked at the bus station before we returned on the service ( after a very unpleasant unprofessional exchange getting on the bus to go to our destination) if they could print my return ticket they were almost hostile saying I just needed to argue my case with the bus driver and if unsuccessful but a new paper ticket. I was so anxious and upset I felt nearly sick and again I was told by same bus driver I need PRINTED TICKET. Please do not sell online tickets if the driver does not accept the tickets with QR codes. Thank you. The bus was fine, the driver was a good driver and the price was a standard price but unacceptable was the anxiety created by the argument about the ticket.

We were very surprised, when the bus made a scheduled stop at the station in Kotor, and discovered the need to switch from the Podgorica bus, to the Niksic bus., which went through Tivat. The transfer was not listed on your website, nor were we informed before boarding in Dubrovnik. The bus route was listed as " DIRECT" when ordering from the site. And communication with the staff was limited, as they did not speak English and we do not speak Slavic. However, the transfer succeeded and we appropriately reached Tivat.

Late arrival. Efficient boarding, immigration border checks went as smoothly as possible. 2-hour bus ride turned into 6.5 hours. No information or update from the driver. No rest stops or chance to get something to eat or drink. Driver smoked so when the aircon was turned on (only occassionally), we were blasted with cigarette smoke. Overall, miserable travel experience and would not recommend the bus service to anyone.

It was a very uncomfortable ride with no A/C that took 4hrs instead of the 2hrs quoted. Ride took over 4 hours instead of 2 that was shown at time of purpose. It was a full bus with no A/C when it was 35C out, so I’d estimate it was well over 40C inside the bus for the full ride. The bus also did not go to Tivet, but just to Kotor where a transfer was required.

The scenery was breathtaking, that's why in overall it was a good experience. The bus left from Dubrovnik on time. It was very cold on the bus and it took quite a lot of time to convince the driver to turn it off. We arrived 2 hours late but it was due to traffic.

Travelling by bus essentials

  • If you are planning to travel during the high season, weekends, or national holidays, booking your bus tickets in advance is highly recommended. The demand is at its highest, yet very often, the number of coaches serving the route remains the same. The earlier you reserve your seat, the better. On some routes, you need to secure your ticket more than a month in advance; on others, a couple-of-days advanced booking is enough. During such periods, try to book online beforehand whenever possible, as showing up at the bus station without a ticket may result in many-hours of waiting in the queue or leave you downright stranded.
  • VIP, 1st, Gold, and similar bus tickets are the most expensive option, but they provide a higher level of comfort. Normally the price of such tickets will include wide soft reclining seats, blankets, water and snacks or lunch, and sometimes some toiletries. Upper-class buses travel faster, make fewer stops during the route, and normally provide more spacious seating to their passengers and a better travel experience.
  • Not all buses have an on-board toilet, but generally, for all trips longer than three hours, all operators schedule a bathroom and/or a lunch stop. While operators definitely do their best to keep on-board toilets clean, the smell may be an issue sometimes. For longer trips, booking a seat a bit farther from the toilet may be a good idea. Also, using bathroom stops for your toilet needs is always better than trying to find your balance in an on-board toilet on the run.
  • If you travel by an air-con bus, make sure to pack layers. A hoodie, a warm scarf, or a beanie hat may prove a good idea. Air-conditioning on buses tends to be excessive, and running nose and sore throats abound after even not the longest bus rides.
  • Always use the security belts even if your bus ride attendant or driver does not insist on it. Your safety comes first – for you, for sure. All buses normally are equipped with security belts, but they may be fixed behind your seat. Take time to find the belt and fix it appropriately.
  • To avoid being disturbed by overhead lights, switched on during stops even at night, and too loud music or sound from the on-board entertainment system, have earplugs and a sleeping mask at hand.
  • As a courtesy to other passengers, avoid using strong perfumes or smelly foods. Some foods like cheeses or durians are forbidden to take on-board – check in advance. Alcohol is also prohibited on the majority of buses.
  • Note that if the bus requires refuelling en-route, passengers will be asked to get off the bus. Operators are not allowed to refuel with passengers on board due to safety reasons. Usually, it takes from 5 to 10 minutes and is often combined with a toilet/lunch stop.
  • If not stated otherwise in your tickets, arrive at the bus station 20-30 minutes before departure. It will give you enough time to find the departure platform and check-in. For international trips, you may need more time for check-in and border formalities.
