It's a pretty old train which feels it's age, it's quite bouncy and loud. We splurged and got the 2 person sleeper cabin for some privacy, the views are amazing and the beds are pretty comfortable.
They served a meal which I do not recommend.
There is one toilet for the carriage and people do not respect it whatsoever, take plenty of wipes and sanitiser.
People also smoke in the carriage despite it being smoke-free, that smoke then wafts all through the carriage through the air-conditioning which is super uncomfortable.
Way better then the SE7. Aircon worked, food was actually good. Loads of space and a table at the each seat.
There were cockroaches crawling on the seats in front of us.
nice train, we were only in the wrong compartment by the lady so had to run to the other car looking for where your place was eventually found, ride of 5.5 hours train only left 1 hour later
For someone who knew what to expect, it was exactly average. So do your research before hand so you aren't surprised! I don't recommend the second class bed alllll the way at the top though. Honestly, the soft berth seats seemed to be better than cramped up at the cieling with no way of getting down except climbing over the family below me. Just my personal preference, although I did sleep for a bit.

The train was very dirty and stuffy as the air con was not working. There was also a shortage of luggage space. The lights remained on throughout the journey, making it hard to sleep. Not a pleasant journey at all.

Please be aware that the departure and arrival points for the bus companies we connect you with are not always at official bus terminals. In many cases, they may simply be along a road where the bus passes through a city. For example, during my three bus journeys in Vietnam, only one of them departed from a bus terminal.
Each time I purchased a ticket, I felt uneasy, wondering, “Where exactly is this place?” Often, even online searches could not provide a clear answer. On some occasions, I arrived at the designated boarding point only to be unexpectedly transferred to another location without prior notice. A taxi driver I had never met before showed up and told me to get in, but since he did not speak English, it was difficult to understand the situation.
Sometimes, the boarding spot could be a dirt roadside in the countryside, next to a chicken coop. If travelers were informed of such possibilities in advance, it would help reduce confusion and ensure a safer, more comfortable journey.
I purchased a round-trip ticket for Vietnam Railways. This survey covers the return journey, but the carriage was much older than the one on the outbound journey. It was also a six-person sleeper carriage, and the beds were narrow, making the six hours of travel extremely uncomfortable. I wish the carriage description had been a bit more detailed when I purchased it.
