Hiroko TI was not happy with the price increase which I got notified of after making payment. This shouldn’t happen at all… but I eventually accepted it and paid extra. The service was excellent though, he even got me a cup of coffee and a small pack of nuts on the way.

Rainer AFirst of all: excellent and careful driver. Pickup in time, arrival time 1 hour later, but no problem for us.
It was the second time we used the company Stef Lanka. And it was the second time, that the booked car for 2 pax was not possible, so that we had to pay more for a 3 pax car. But when we looked at the booking platform after accepting the higher price, the cheaper car for 2 pax was still offered. How that? Wants Stef Lanka make more money? Sorry, but we felt ripped off.

Hillary Fabout 45min into our trip the drive pulled over to get breakfast, leaving us in the car by the side of the road - not a huge deal, but definitely a little unexpected. didn't wear his mask most of the drive, was scrolling through facebook on his phone while driving and passing cars on busy winding roads which didn't feel safe, and kept opening his door while driving to spit out onto the street. when we got to Negombo we had to direct him to the hotel with google maps - since we put our hotel info in when booking would have thought he'd know where we were going. and lastly, one of the seatbelts in the back wouldn't fasten.

Thera MThey were on time and efficient. The driver drove a little fast on the windy mountain roads for our liking but we also understand that driving styles are different than what we're used to. If you easily get car sick, I would not recommend driving or having a driver as the route is rather windy. Thanks for being able to support this request within a days notice and your responsiveness!

Caroline DWe were 2 minibuses rather than one (for a party of 7 with lots of baggage), as the booked one had suffered a puncture. 12Go were quick to call about this to apologise though. The replacement buses were a bit old with AC not working, but the drivers were very friendly and got us to our destination efficiently. The booking experience was well handled by 12Go as they had been unable to book us train tickets for this journey but were able to sort us out minibus via their website instead. You do pay more by going through 12Go but this extra cost was justified in this instance by the convenience of the whole process

Jennifer VOur driver was a super, nice young man and very safe. However, the van he had to drive is very very old and seat belts could not be found in half of the seats. Every time we leaned on our chairs something would fall off, and it was all very cramped. We recommend getting this driver a better van!

Jennifer VOur driver was super helpful and the van was clean and comfortable. The driver recommended a couple of spots for overview photos and even a visit to a tea plantation which we really enjoyed. It was a long drive along winding roads and he was very careful and a good, safe driver.

Mark DCar was 1.5 hours picking us up and no notification / we were chasing them for an update; for a 6 hour drive taking us to airport didn't need that poor start. Van was average , comfortable but damaged rear window stuck up with plastic. Driving overall was ok and second driver very good we had to tell drivers a few times to slow down , nothing silly. We caught train up from Colombo and Kandy to Ella and although takes a bit longer so much more relaxing - if you have the time. Vans in Sri Lanka choose carefully.

Matt MStef Lanka over promised and under delivered with the service we purchased from them. We booked a taxi from Ella to Mirissa with Stef Lanka for a cost of $113USD and from the pictures and information they sent us they gave us the impression that our car was to be a late model, comfortable car with AC and a driver who helped us with our heavy bags.
Instead, Stef Lanka sub-contracted this 4hr + ride to a 3rd party driver with a non-AC van that was not very spacious. Don't get me wrong, the driver of the non-AC van was nice, and his service was good, but it seemed like he had no idea what we had signed up and paid for with Stef Lanka. He also said that his daily pay rate for our drive was 700 RUPEES, which, if true, means Stef Lanka tours is making a HEAP of money from tourists and paying the people who actually do the work for them very little. Which is sad (but all based off our drivers information, which may need to be taken with a grain of salt).
I would suggest you do your research more thoroughly before booking a taxi with Stef Lanka tours, as I left our ride feeling very sad.
As such, I rate the 3rd party contractor who drove us 4 stars, while I rate Stef Lanka tours 1 star.
