For adventurous explorers and beach relaxers alike, Da Nang offers a multitude of activities and tours to suit any need. Whether you prefer getting to know the city by tasting its food, zipping through streets and sights on the back of a motorbike, or indulging in the deep cultural scene with a group of locals, Da Nang will provide. For a glimpse of everything this city has to offer, we suggest mixing it up and exploring several different options.

Surfing in Da Nang

A trip to Da Nang isn’t complete without a dip in the sea. Better yet, why not try your hand at surfing? The Da Nang Surf School offers lessons on just about any board you can imagine; if surfing isn’t your thing, opt for stand up paddle boarding or kite surfing instead. Lessons start at USD70 for 90 minutes of instruction from seasoned pros.

Food tours

For all the foodies out there, the Da Nang Food Tour is an absolute must. Due to our love for all things coffee, we recommend the morning food tour. Exploring the mostly-locals hot spots while indulging in amazing Vietnamese dishes is the perfect way to spend a few hours before heading off to the beach. Cookery classes

If you can’t leave Vietnam without knowing how to cook the amazing dishes you tried, book a Da Nang Home Cooking Class. You won’t just get to try the mouth-watering dishes this country is known for; instead, you’ll experience the cooking methods and ingredients for yourself. Visit local markets with cooking experts during this class, and taste the fruits of your labour afterwards. A 5-hour class costs about USD39.

The cable car ride and great views

For picturesque views and one of the longest gondola rides you’ll ever take, check out the Ba Na Cable Car. A round trip ticket up the mountain will set you back about USD25, but you’ll also get access to the Ba Na Resort, where you’ll experience French culture, lovely gardens, and breathtaking views. At the end of the day, we appreciated the cable car ride itself even more than the village at the top; bring your camera.

Motorbike tours

When you come to Vietnam, you expect motorbikes, and lots of them. That’s no exception in Da Nang. For a taste of local life, we tried out the Easyrider Private Day Trips. Sure, we splurged a little, but the personal guides who zip you all over Da Nang and surrounding areas are more than worth it. A full day tour will cost you at least USD75, plus the cost of food and drinks.

Cycling tours

Speeding around the city on two wheels can be a bit frightening for some. If you’re more risk averse than the locals who weave in and out of traffic, we recommend going on one of Path Biker’s cycling tours. While this company offers a number of tour options, we chose to experience the Backroad to My Son Holy Land Tour. This leisurely trip lasts around 5 hours and costs USD149 if you’re going solo.

Walking tours

If you’re on a budget, not to worry – there’s still an in-depth, informative tour in this city for you. The Da Nang Free Walking Tour is definitely not to be missed, no matter how much you’re willing to spend on your trip. Explore this coastal city with a group of college students who are eagerly ready to share their viewpoint and knowledge with you. These local students will tour you around while answering any and every question imaginable for about an hour and a half. The cost is free, but tips are much appreciated.
