Can Tho Hotels and Restaurants

There is a great range of accommodation in the city, whether you want a fancy hotel or just something cheap, Can Tho has got you covered. The majority of the places are either found downtown, at the southern end of the city or along the riverfront with most places offering good value for money.

Budget

For the best cheapest selection of guesthouses and hostels head to Phan Dinh Phung street as there are some good places dotted along it.

Hien Guesthouse offers clean and some private bathrooms which costs under USD10 and Thanh Ha Guesthouse just next door is the roughly the same price and includes a basic room and TV.

Hai Ba Trung along the riverfront is another good area for hotels and there are some on the cheaper side.

Thanh Thuy has double beds, TVs, dressers, air con and some good views for around USD10-20. Close by is the Tay Ho hotel and offers clean rooms for the same price and include things like TVs, fridges, air con and bathrooms. Try to get a room that faces the front as you will get some great views and a good selling point for it is the long terrace that has chairs and tables that overlook the street and river.

Mid-range

If you are looking for mid range options, then Phan Dinh Phung is again a good street to check out.

Our pick of the bunch is the Saigon Can Tho hotel, which is a popular tourist place and is kitted out with all modern amenities for around USD20-40.

There are also mid range places along Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street and Hau Giang hotel has good reviews of its rooms and customer service.

Top end

Our top of the range hotels can be found along the riverfront, which includes the Nam Bo Boutique Hotel that overlooks the river and has big and spacious rooms and Kim Tho which has facilities like a spa and Jacuzzi. These places offer rooms starting from USD50.

Where to eat in Can Tho

Can Tho is blessed with so many good places to eat at and there is a huge range of Vietnamese and international meals to pick from. The markets offer a kind option to your wallet with lots of street food available with the best restaurants found along the riverside.

For a cheap and authentic experience one of the first places you should try is Hot Pot Alley (Hem 1 Ly Tu Trong, which is home to a good amount of restaurants that all offer Can Tho hot pots (USD3-4) and include a choice of poultry, fish and seafood.

Another excellent place is the night market which is found on Hai Ba Trung and opens from 7-10pm and here you can pick from many different food stalls that serve popular Vietnamese meals for very cheap prices.

Hai Ba Trung is also a great area for midrange restaurants with Phuong Mien being one of our favourites. Here we tried some of the local beef noodle soups (USD12), braised duck soup (USD15) and minced pork stuffed roles (USD10).

Mien Tay is also found here and has a great range of Mekong dishes including fresh fish and seafood (USD20+).

Nha Huang Du Thuyen is a must and we were very glad we experienced this fine restaurant, which spans 3 floors on a boat and offers some of the best local dishes in the city at higher prices. Other top of the range restaurants include Sao Ham and Phong Nam with both having a big menu to choose from.

The riverside area is your best bet for international cuisines with the majority offering some form of western food. Phuong Nam serves delicious pizzas and pasta dishes and the New Delhi has some of the best Indian meals in the city. L’Escale focuses on French food and Nam Bo dips into various international cuisines including Italian.
