Departure about two hours late and the arrival as well, simply dropped off in Sihanoukville - not at the booked location (4-5 kilometers away), no seat belts available, tires completely worn out

The trip by itself was fine: the driver drove surprisingly well, especially for Cambodia’s standards :) But, we arrived with 1:30 of delay, which almost caused us to lose our ferry! It’s useless they say the trip takes 2:30 when it cannot possibly be that short (we should have guessed it since all other companies said the same route takes 3:30…)

Overall great service. The staff onboard are really second to none with VET. It’s certainly the stand out difference between them and the other bus operators in Asia. Thanks

The bus may have been only 30 minutes late but when we arrived they only told us to wait. No more explanation and after having waited 1h, they changed the time on the bus sign from 10 to 10h30 as if nothing was wrong. Also, I can understand if the driver doesn't speak english, but when the van stopped for a break, the driver didn't even look at my friend and i told everyone else something in Khmer. We didnt know if it was a lunch break because it was noon or if it was a 5 min break. And the people at the stop were rude to us as well. So no, didn't really feel welcome at all. The air conditioning on top of me was also broken so i couldn't control it and got cold. Still, they got us from point A to point B but it was an unconfortable ride both physically and mentally.

Good beds and on time. The let down was that the aircon wasn’t great, so it was very hot at points

Train

Train is a often a great choice for long-haul travel especially if you opt for a night sleeper train with berths which will allow you to sleep all your journey through. To make the most of your train journey, choose the class of your ticket wisely.

Note that there are air-conditioned and fan-only carriages; private compartments for 2 or 4; hard and soft seats.
Though the upper class you get the smoother is your journey, often second class air-conditioned or fan-only sleepers are a good money saving alternative.

Van

Vans are a great alternative - or, in many cases - your only option - if you need to travel overland within one and the same province or neighbouring provinces or states. Vans ply the roads between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville, too.

Things to remember: When travelling by van with huge luggage buying a separate seat for your suitcase or backpack is a good idea. Do not expect there is a roomy luggage compartment in a van - there is actually none and your fellow passengers are unlikely to appreciate your luggage stuck under their feet, alas.
