Bali to Nusa Penida Destination Reviews

On the way back, no one knew where I was supposed to go, so I had to run around everywhere without really knowing where I was going. In the end, I managed to find the boat just 2 minutes before it left. I almost missed it!

Wouldn’t recommend. Car never picked us up in the morning so we had to wait half an hour before ordering our own grab to make sure we didn’t miss the ferry. The ferry part was seamless, got our tickets and straight on the boat. We never got any communication from our driver prior to 8.30am when he started asking where we were (even though he should’ve been there at 7am). The company were also uncontactable and didn’t help - we had to fix this all ourselves and ended up being late to a tour we had in nusa penida and didn’t even receive an apology

The driver was unfortunately 45 minutes late picking us up which meant we missed our boat. However the staff at the port were very helpful and managed to arrange us a spot on another boat with a different tour company which meant we didn't have to wait 4 hours. But it also meant we had to go to the further away port on nusa. Meaning it took us a lot longer and was more expensive to get to our hotel.

It was 2 hours later than scheduled (the drive to port took almost 2 hours), and the system in harbour was very chaotic (no one told which boat we should go to, where to put our baggage etc. and even when we tried to ask the communication was really difficult as the staff seemed too busy and disinterested innhelping us).

The time set by the operator is not enough. Pick up at 11 from the Uluwatu are to get to the port was a very close call for us. On top of that, our driver had to fuel up and top up the toll card on the way which finally led to him dropping us off on the side of the street instead of at the ticketing office. We had to run to grab our boarding passes from the office and then also run to the departure deck. We made it, but only just. If you choose this service, ask for the number of your driver and maybe ask if he can pick you up earlier.

Van

Things to remember: When travelling by van with huge luggage buying a separate seat for your suitcase or backpack is a good idea. Do not expect there is a roomy luggage compartment in a van - there is actually none and your fellow passengers are unlikely to appreciate your luggage stuck under their feet, alas.
