Communication from BaliParadiso/CMP was awful. The night prior to pickup, we received a WhatsApp message saying our originally scheduled 16:00 ferry was canceled due to issues with the boat, so they had to put us on an earlier ferry and pickup time (10:30 pickup instead of 13:30). We accepted that, but the next morning we messaged repeatedly to confirm 10:30 pickup and got no response. I called several times, no response. We waited at pickup for 45 mins, still no response. At this point we believed we were scammed. Also we were trying to coordinate late checkout with our villa since we didn’t know if we could catch the ferry at all. Finally, about 1 hr after scheduled pickup, got a text saying they will instead pick us up at 13:30 and changed our ferry back to original time of 16:00 with Eka Jaya. The driver did end up coming at the new time, but we had to rush there to make the ferry (we showed up with 15 mins to spare, when we were supposed to check in 30 mins prior). When we got there, nobody from Eka Jaya helped clarify the route or baggage help. Instead, people wearing Eka Jaya shirts offered to help and took our bags to the boat, but then hassled us for money telling us to give them 150k IDR for walking our bags over. We would have taken them ourselves if we knew they weren’t helping as a service by Eka Jaya. Then on the ferry we were CONSTANTLY harassed by staff to get a taxi ride with them, even when we said multiple times that we have a ride. We almost got off the boat at the wrong pier because they never announced at any point that we were not yet at Bangsal and instead stopping at gili first. Overall such a disappointment and was a confusing and frustrating experience from start to finish. Would not recommend booking with BaliParadiso/CMP/EkaJaya. Save yourself the stress. The only good thing from the whole experience was the driver that finally picked us up was nice and the van was comfy.

The transfer with Magir Trans and the boat ride went very smoothly thanks to my driver Rijan. We were on time and had enough time for a long lunch in the Harbour!

I had a wonderful experience with my driver, Rijan. He was punctual, kind, and made the journey very comfortable. He drove safely, knew the best routes, and was always happy to share helpful tips about the area. I felt really well taken care of. Highly recommend him if you’re looking for a reliable driver!

Everything went great!

Everything went smooth, the check in is not directly at the harbour and you need to bring the baggage there yourself. The hall at the port was a little crowded and chaotic but afterall it worked. The ride was relatively smooth, given that the boat is rather large compared to others. Would book again

How is food so cheap in Lombok?

Food in Lombok is affordable due to local sourcing and lower living costs. Traditional markets supply fresh produce, rice, and spices directly from local farms, reducing transportation and storage expenses. Street food stalls and warungs (small family-owned eateries) offer popular dishes like nasi goreng and satay, often priced between 15,000 to 30,000 IDR ($1 to $2). These venues have lower overhead costs compared to larger restaurants, allowing them to offer meals at lower prices.

Additionally, the cost of living in Lombok is generally lower than in major Indonesian cities, contributing to the affordability of dining. Travelers can enjoy authentic local cuisine without straining their budget, while also experiencing the island's rich culinary traditions.

How much does an Uber cost in Lombok?

Uber does not operate in Lombok. Instead, travelers can use local ride-hailing apps like Gojek or Grab. Prices vary based on distance and time, but a typical short ride within a city area might cost around IDR 20,000 to 50,000 ($1.30 to $3.30).

For longer distances, such as rides from the airport to popular destinations like Senggigi or Kuta, expect to pay between IDR 100,000 to 300,000 ($6.60 to $20). Always confirm the fare in the app before booking.

Local taxis are also available and may be a viable alternative; however, it is advisable to negotiate the fare in advance if the taxi does not use a meter.

Can I go to Lombok alone?

Traveling to Lombok solo is quite feasible and safe, provided you take standard precautions. The island offers a range of activities suitable for solo travelers, such as exploring the beaches of Kuta and Senggigi, hiking Mount Rinjani, and visiting the traditional Sasak villages.

For transportation, scooters are a popular choice for getting around, with daily rentals costing around 60,000 IDR ($4). Public ferries and fast boats connect Lombok to neighboring islands like Bali and the Gili Islands.

Dining options vary from local warungs, where meals are typically around 30,000 IDR ($2), to more upscale restaurants.

Tap water is not safe to drink, so it is advisable to use bottled water, which is widely available.

Exercise normal travel safety practices, such as securing your belongings and being cautious with unfamiliar environments.

Flights

Flying is the fastest and often the most expensive way to travel from Bali to Lombok, but with a bit of luck you can score very good deals for as little as USD 74.56.

Things to remember: Note that some of the airlines may have restrictions on checked luggage weight or require paying extra for check-in, choosing seats or transportation of oversized luggage.

Things to remember: When travelling by van with huge luggage buying a separate seat for your suitcase or backpack is a good idea.
