Sentosa Things to Do
Sentosa Island is one of the most visited hotspots in the whole of Singapore, and with its wide selection of attractions and activities it’s not hard to understand why. For those wanting to do more than relax on Sentosa’s beautiful beaches (Tanjong, Palawan, and Siloso) or indulge in the world-class resorts and spa pampering, there is still plenty of action-packed activities on offer. From theme parks, waterparks, aquariums and the first casino in Singapore this island caters for travellers with a diverse range of interests.
Universal Studios Singapore
One of the top attractions is definitely Universal Studios Singapore. This attraction is a fun and thrilling movie themed entertainment park incorporating several DreamWorks Animation-themed activities. Children and adults are sure to be entertained by the exhilarating rollercoasters and rides tastefully integrating popular movies and characters; such as Madagascar, Shrek, Sesame Street, and Transformers amongst others.
The park is open from 10am to 8pm with one-day tickets starting at SGD 38 for seniors older than 60, SGD 56 for children aged 4 to 12 years old and adult tickets charged at SGD 76. Pretty pricy but worth it! It is also worth noting that booking online is advisable so as not to avoid disappointment.
Mega Andevture Park
For those who are craving further adrenaline and action during their Sentosa trip, Mega Adventure Park situated on Imbiah Hill is another must-visit hotspot for adventure junkies. The star attraction of Mega Adventure is hands-down, MegaZip, which is a 450 meter zip-line taking visitors across jungle, beach and sea at an exhilarating 60kph. Be sure to check out MegaClimb which is a 3-level obstacle course; MegaWall, a 16 meter climbing wall; MegaJump, a simulated parachute jump and the MegaBounce trampoline.
Ticket prices vary from SGD 65 to SGD 100 depending on which attractions you want to try. Although operating hours are currently being revised, be sure to head to this park on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays between 11am and 6pm as for the time being it is closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Fridays and Saturdays also boast an exciting NightZip from 7pm to 9pm charged at SGD 45 per person.
Adventure Cove Waterpark
For those yearning for water-based activities, head to Adventure Cove Waterpark between 10am and 6pm daily in Resorts World. With seven thrilling water rides, a wave pool, relaxing tubing as well as entertaining water fountains for the little ones, Adventure Cove is an excellent way to keep cool and entertained no matter what one’s age. This waterpark also boasts the magical, manmade Rainbow Reef and Ray Bay (at an additional SGD 20); both snorkelling opportunities to interact and swim with 20, 000 fishes and even dozens of beautiful rays.
A one-day ticket for non-residents will set you back SGD 38 for adults and SGD 30 for children and seniors, whereas Singapore resident tickets are SGD 32 and SGD 24 for adults and children.
SEA Aquarium
Perfect for families or those interested in marine wildlife, another popular activity is the SEA Aquarium located in Resorts World Sentosa. The aquarium boasts 800 different species of marine life and the aquarium is as fascinating as it is informative.
Operating hours are from 10am to 6pm daily with non-resident adults being charged SGD 34 and children and seniors SGD 24. Local residents have slightly lower entrance fees with adults paying SGD 30 and children SGD 18.
Slyline Luge Sentosa
Skyline Luge Sentosa is a family-fun attraction consisting of two trails (the Jungle Trail and the Dragon Trail) where visitors get to ride a luge cart (a self-driving car system) downhill by pushing their handlebars back and forth. Easy to control and fun for all ages, this is a cheerful way to spend an hour or two. For those who want to relax there is also the scenic Skyride which is a 4-seater chairlift that that offers passengers stunning views of the skyline and sea. Beautiful during the day and night, this is a lovely means of getting a bird’s eye view of the striking landscape.
Ticket prices all include a Skyride but vary according to how many luge rides visitors desire. Open daily from 10am to 9:30pm, one ride is SGD 18 and seven rides is SGD 41 per person. Children may double up with adults for an additional SGD 3 per child.
Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom
One last must-see family-attraction is Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom which has a beautiful outdoor conservatory with an array of exotic creepy-crawlies and striking winged creatures. Adult tickets are SGD 16 and a child ticket is SGD 10. Operating hours are between 9.30am to 7pm daily.
