How to use the Japan Rail Pass?
1. Booking Confirmation: Once your booking is completed, 12Go will confirm it within minutes.
2. Delivery of Exchange Certificate: Your exchange certificate will be delivered to your chosen address via the selected mail service or can be picked up at our Bangkok office.
3. Arrive and exchange in Japan: Within 90 days of arrival in Japan, exchange your certificate for the JR Pass at any JR ticket office or designated machine. Remember to bring your passport.
4. Activate and use your JR Pass: You can activate your JR Pass at any JR ticket office immediately after receiving it or within 30 days.
With your JR Pass, you can board non-reserved seats on most JR trains without reservation. Book your ticket in advance! For a reserved seat, visit any JR ticket office or use ticket machines.
Show your JR Pass to the staff or follow on-screen instructions at the machine. Not all stations have these, but if they do, simply scan the QR code on your JR Pass and follow the on-screen instructions. These machines are easily identifiable by the green logo near the ticket office.

The pass itself cannot be reissued if lost, so it is essential to keep it. The pass must be presented at a controlled gate or used through the automatic gates as usual. What is the difference between the Ordinary Class and the Green Class?
💺Ordinary Class are the standard class. They have cozy seats arranged in 3+2 configurations. These well-maintained cars provide a more enjoyable travel experience at a lower cost.
💺 Green Class can be likened to business-class service. Seats are placed in a 2+2 formation, providing much more elbow and leg room. Thus, passengers are equipped with everything necessary for a luxurious trip.
Japan Rail Pass Tips
You need to book your JR Pass at least 2 weeks before your flight to Japan. This ensures you'll receive your exchange voucher in time for your trip. You'll also receive a Free Digital Guide containing detailed information on exchanging your exchange order for a Japan Rail Pass.
You can exchange a physical JR Pass at an official exchange office in Japan within 90 days of purchase. You have 30 days to activate your JR Pass and begin your train travel adventures in Japan.
🎫 This pass is valid only for non-Japanese passport holders with a "Temporary Visitor" stamp. To obtain a JR Pass, get a Temporary Visitor stamp at immigration. Do not pass through the automatic gates; no stamp will be affixed.
🚆 JR Pass holders can upgrade their tickets to travel on the Nozomi and Mizuho trains by paying a supplement at the station.
