Tohoku Area Pass Coverage
This pass is available exclusively for non-Japanese passport holders and provides unlimited travel on the following lines for five consecutive days from the date of issue:

  • JR EAST lines (including buses)
  • Izu Kyuko Line
  • Tokyo Monorail
  • Aoimori Railway
  • Iwate Galaxy Railway (IGR)
  • Sendai Airport Line (including limited express, express, and ordinary trains)

Additionally, the pass covers reserved and non-reserved seats on:

  • Limited express and express trains
  • Ordinary trains, including rapid service
  • Trains connecting JR lines and Tobu Railway, such as the "Nikko," "Kinugawa," and "SPACIA Kinugawa." Some JR bus routes are also included.

Must-visit destinations
🌸Nikko. Famous for UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the ornate Toshogu Temple, and beautiful natural scenery such as waterfalls and hot springs.
🌸Sendai. The largest city in Tohoku is celebrated for its lively culture and historic landmarks.

JR East Tohoku Area Pass Eligibility
The JR East Tohoku Area Pass is available to non-Japanese passport holders visiting Japan on a short-term stay visa. This pass is designed for tourists and is unavailable for Japanese residents or long-term visa holders. Be sure to carry your passport to confirm eligibility when purchasing or using the pass.

How to use the JR East Tohoku Area Pass?
Go to Green Ticket Vending Machines and pick up a Physical Ticket by scanning the QR code on e-tickets and non-Japanese passports. Reserved seat tickets can be reserved at a green ticket vending machine or a station ticket office.
