Instead of the current 18 flights in each direction every week, THAI will only operate 14. The new timetable shows that flight number TG419 and TG420 will vanish from the timetable.
Prior to the deadline, THAI’s timetable shows that it will utilise Airbus 320s on these two flights instead of the bigger Airbus 330-300s. This comes into effect on 29 March.
The reduction of flights on the Kuala Lumpur route is all part of THAI’s attempts to streamline its operations. Thai media sources say the airline will also reduce services from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport to Tokyo Narita for a trial period from May onwards.
THAI’s Bangkok-Madrid services look set to be abandoned, although this still remains to be confirmed. The carrier’s CEO recently confirmed that loss-making routes would be scrapped, or their frequencies capped, and that 22 older aircraft in the fleet would be sold.
