Danang helicopter tours ready to fly

The company setting up a helicopter tour service in the Vietnamese city of Danang says the official launch date will be 24 April 2015. Vietnam Helicopter Corporation spokesperson Pham Ngoc Diep told local reporters that following a successful test flight the service would be launched on schedule.

The tour operator will offer passengers the opportunity of flying in brand new aircraft to regional destinations such as Cu Lao Cham Marine Park, Ly Son Island and Son Doong Cave. The helicopters have a maximum capacity of six passengers.

The spokesperson added that the airborne odysseys would last up to 25 minutes and fares per person are expected to be around the US$150 mark for each trip. Vietnam Helicopter Corporation already operates helicopter rides from Phu Quoc Island, Nha Trang and Halong Bay.

Commenting on the forthcoming service, Danang city authority official Vo Duy Khuong said it would offer another reason for tourists to visit. However, he did note that the preliminary prices seemed a little high and stated that lower fares would encourage more people to try the helicopter rides.
