The Laos government determines the construction of a railway connecting the country with China as the most important current transportation project. According to promising plan rail link will connect Boten with Vientiane.

The Laos government determines the construction of a railway connecting the country with China as the most important current transportation project.

According to promising plan rail link will connect Boten, on the China-Laos border, with Vientiane, Laos capital. The implementation of the project requires the construction of 154 bridges, including two across the great Mekong River and 76 tunnels.

Laos-China train will make about 31 stops on its 421-kilometre way. In spite of initially Laos and China governments plane to build high-speed railway, it will have usual speed until 160 kph.
