Honeymooners skip Thailand entry queues

Thailand’s tourism and immigration bureaus have teamed up to offer a Valentine’s bonus for honeymooners and couples about to tie the knot. Couples arriving at Bangkok’s main airport or Phuket Airport can avoid queues at immigration desks by announcing their presence to staff at the two facilities.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) says all loved-up couples need to do to avoid the sometimes lengthy queues is register at specially designated desks and they will be fast-tracked through to Arrivals halls. The offer runs through to the end of February and follows similar initiatives for the past two years.

Honeymooners and people getting married while holidaying in Thailand as well as couples on romantic breaks are all eligible. They can request the streamlined arrival procedures at the two airports.

At Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, the registration desks are located beside the travellators in the two main arrivals concourses. Phuket’s registration desk is in the Arrivals hall.

Couples who register when arriving will get automatic entry into a lucky draw with prizes such as accommodation, restaurant and spa vouchers up for grabs. Thawatchai Arunyik, the governor of the TAT, said Thailand was pleased to be running the Romantic Thailand campaign for the third year in succession.
