The statement added that roads in the vicinity of the airport are likely to be busier than usual right through until 5 January 2015. It finished off by saying, that passengers could park their vehicles free of charge in the car park near the disused Building 2 and then use the covered walkway to reach the departure terminal.
As is the case with airports the world over, Don Muang is invariably busy during the New Year holidays. The airport is located close to the main highways leading to the north and northeastern regions of Thailand.
Many Thais living in Bangkok take advantage of the public holiday to take trips to these regions or to travel back to their home towns. The additional cars and public buses on the roads often lead to traffic jams.
At Mo Chit Bus Terminal, the principal departure station for buses to the north and northeast, the public areas were crowded with people queuing for tickets and waiting for buses yesterday. One worker at Mo Chit said it was so busy that some passengers had camped out on the grassy areas outside to wait for their buses.

News in AsiaOfficials at Don Muang Airport have warned that roads leading to it will be heavily congested for the next few days. In a statement, the officials say that passengers departing on flights from Bangkok’s second airport should allow two to three hours for the journey if travelling from the city centre.
